Located at 39 Sunset Drive in Dahlonega, Georgia, The Commons #2 is a modern co-ed residence hall complex that accommodates 538 residents, including freshmen and upperclassmen. The facility offers suite-style housing with single and double occupancy options, constructed in 2016. Conveniently situated across from the University of North Georgia Dining Hall, The Commons #2 is adjacent to the Walker Drive residential parking deck.
The Commons Building 2 features 108 suites that can house up to 351 students in single-gender arrangements. Each suite is fully furnished with two bedrooms, one bathroom, and shared common areas like lounges and snack rooms. Residents have access to free laundry facilities on each floor, except for the 1400s floor, which can use the facilities in other parts of The Commons.
With a team of seventeen resident assistants and one resident director, The Commons #2 offers a comfortable living environment for students. Room measurements are approximate, and all furniture is provided, including XL twin mattresses, desks, chairs, chests, and closets without doors for flexible storage.
New students moving in for Fall 2023 will have designated move-in dates in August, with strict guidelines on cars and guests allowed during the process. Residents must bring their UNG Nighthawks ID card for check-in and access to facilities. The residence halls open at specific times, and students are encouraged to bring personal items that comply with the residence hall policies.
Students in The Commons #2 are required to purchase a meal plan, with options for 10, 15, or All Access plans. The residence halls are equipped with computer and wireless network access, as well as guidelines for connecting devices and accessing media content. Visitation hours for guests are outlined, and all visitors must be escorted and checked in at the front desk.
