"Looks are deceiving. Reconsider moving in. Dryer has been broken over a week; bathroom leaks, toilet runs, bathrooms are extremely dated and Property Staff customer service is appalling. I asked to speak to the regional manager to express my dissatisfaction and he couldn’t be bothered. No one has ever personally responded to my emails since April 2023. Not entirely sure why i considered moving in. Huge mistake."
"Be careful with the teaser rates on rent. Once you've moved in, they'll raise your rent every year citing "market rates". After 3 1/2 yrs of living here, I'm paying $1920 for an apartment that's marketed at $1689. It isn't the only place guilty of this short-sighted business practice, yet it's still a poor business model. Older buildings with some renovations. Level and quality of renovation depends on the unit, so view a couple. Plenty of windows with good amount of light, yet the windows are single-pane, so your electric bills are HIGH and especially in the winter depending on the apartment level you're on. Basement apartments have poor ventilation, so dampness and cold are common as is mildew. Keeping the thermostat at 68, budget for $200/mo for electric. Summer is cheaper. Thermostats are poorly placed so bedrooms are 5-7 deg colder/warmer than rest of the apartment. Master bathrooms are a postage stamp(4'6" x 4'9") and not large enough for two people - take notice. Ceilings/floors are very, VERY thin. Can hear your neighbors walk, pee, and any extracurricular activities. Mature trees throughout are nice for shade yet bad for bugs. Large palmetto bugs/roaches are common and have had more than one wake me up crawling on me in my bed in the middle of the night. Yeah... Leasing office is hit and miss. Unresponsive for big issues, very responsive for minor ones. Had a leak from the neighbor above me in 2021 which caused water damage and most likely heavy mold. Have been trying to get the ceiling fixed since then, yet it's still like you see in the photo. Clubhouse and pool was built new in 2020, so is definitely the best part of living here. Grills are nice yet not really taken care of. Mostly quiet and safe apartment complex with EXTREMELY low crime, and hopefully it stays that way. Neighbors are mostly kind and respectful of others."
"DO NOT LIVE HERE WHATEVER YOU DO!! I lived in the ashford for two years and the second was only because we could not find another lease quick enough once we decided not to stay. I was going to leave and keep my thoughts to myself but today me and my roommate got a letter from a debt collector due to an amount we owe the ashford. We moved out 3 months ago and paid all our outstanding bills and were told if we owe anything we would hear from them. Well we never got a call or email stating we owed $166 for things i know we already paid for. So instead of trying to call us for us to pay they sent us to a debt collector….. Had we been notified we would have just paid the amount to avoid this. This place is never ending problems i guess. All the buildings seem like they were built hundreds of years ago and are all moldy and musty. You will see bugs like you have never seen before. Roaches the size of softballs are all over the place. The trash never comes when it’s supposed to so the place always stinks and the dumpsters are always overflowed. Whatever you do for sure avoid unit 1932F. We called pest at least every two weeks and they tried to tell us we didn’t have an infestation even though we saw 10+ roaches a week. The lower rental price is not worth it because our power bills were $300+ and our new place they are $50 and we don’t do anything different. Whatever you do, don’t live here unless they tear the building down and reopen them. Their “renovations” were painting our cabinets white and making a mess all over our apartment and not cleaning it up. I could go on and on about several other issues we had while living here but i don’t have the time to list it all."
"The Ashford Apartment Homes has been a complete nightmare since I moved in. Excited initially, I was asked by management to leave a review on google. I felt obligated to do so, in hopes they would complete the promised repairs prior to my move in date. I gave them 5 stars in an effort to urge them to make good on their promises. I wanted to believe they were honest, and I could rely on their words. Of course they failed to act upon any of the many requests I had, that they agreed to fix. I receive excuses, and sometimes apologies, but they never truly rectify issues. I have been harassed here, received knocks from a creepy neighbor after 9pm, witnessed the same neighbor throwing knives at a tree next to our units, and being told by management that I lived next to an unstable person. This is truly unsettling and I have never felt safe here. Bugs abound everywhere on this property, it’s not kept well at all. I love Brookhaven, but this property is in disarray. I have so many maintenance issues, but do not trust these people entering my apartment. They refuse to notify you they are entering, but my camera has caught everything. 4 months in, and I still have the incorrect address on my lease, their excuse is that the lease is automatically generated. No accountability is taken. They discounted my rent one month because of all of the issues they didn’t fix prior to my move. I was told by management that they were embarrassed by the condition of my unit, and that they thought my neighbor (not the same knocking on my door late at night neighbor)might be obsessed with me. This has caused me to feel very unsafe! They tried to get me to move to another unit, but the units they showed me were worse than the one I’m in. Gates have been broken numerous times, loud inconsiderate neighbors, cheap building materials, awful paint jobs, old appliances, your trash not being picked up, extremely loud AC units, unprofessional leasing staff, and bugs…that’s what you can expect here. Management will call you on the phone and apologize for your troubles, only to send you an email saying something completely contrary. There’s so much more I could type, but I’ll end it here. I gave this complex months to improve, but it’s very much below my standards. To each their own though!"
"I am loving living at the Ashford Apartment Homes! The buildings are beautiful, the grounds are clean, and everyone is so nice. It's close to restaurants, shopping and more, but is nestled in a nicely-treed setting. The apartments are spacious inside and feature crown molding, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Visitors have commented on how nice the area is!"
