"Completely and utterly shocked. I have been a Home Depot customer for years. Aside from numerous shopping trips for every day items, I have used HD for granite installation, floor installation, and recently purchased LG washer, dryer and fridge. I consider myself a loyal customer. I recently needed two large area rugs cleaned and decided to do it myself. I went to Home Depot tool rental to inquire about how to clean the rugs myself. I explained that it was going to be a quick job. When I arrived home with equipment, I read the instructions and watched the video online. As I was cleaning the second carpet, I noticed a screw had popped out on the floor. There is only one back-and-forth motion to operate this machine so there would’ve been nothing that I have done to damage this equipment. When I returned the machine, I walked in with screw in hand and explained that screw had fallen out of the machine. They explained since I had not purchased the protection insurance that I was going to be charged. The protection insurance was only $7, and boy I wish I had purchased it. They billed my credit card $58 additional dollars to charge me for the part that they needed to order to replace the damaged Rug Doctor machine. The machine rental was about $35. So I paid more for the part than I did the actual rental of the machine. I am the first person to give out glowing reviews when I’ve had a good experience. However, when I am treated unfairly, I think it’s important for people to know and understand the dynamics of this customer service trap. Don’t leave this place without renting insurance. They are not going to give you the full details when you get the equipment. I don’t do business with people who handle customers this way in this manner. For this reason, HD has lost my business until this issue has been resolved to my satisfaction. I will also be calling corporate to address the situation accordingly."
"The staff at rental were all texting on their cells and seemed annoyed that I was interrupting them. I told the guy who stepped up to help me that I knew nothing about pressure washers and would need help. He basically said “put this in this and that in that”. When I got this monster home it took me an hour to figure out that what they had given me was broken and sprayed like a guy with prostrate problems. They couldn’t care less. The manager, Corey, was obviously protective of his employees until I showed him the photos I took of his employees on their cells texting. Then he refunded my money back. I injured my hands and leg trying to get this thing to work and I will never go back in that store again! Plus my driveway still looks awful. Don’t waste your time at this Home Depot."
"Went to order a truck and only had it for 2 hrs and because it was an hour after closing they charge an overnight charge that they do not make you aware so telling you now if you get the truck late just keep it until tomorrow. They will charge you $136 overnight regardless or get the uhaul at least they know when your truck comes and will not overcharge as this place."
"This was my first time at this Home Depot. I rented a truck to move a sofa from up the street. The rental is supposedly $20 for 75 minutes. I had the the truck for 85 minutes, in the contract it states that it is an extra $5 per 5 minutes. I was charged $104. They refused a refund. The manager Joey, (over the truck rental) was so nonchalant and nasty. He basically said "too bad." The store manager was not helpful at all. They claimed that this is store policy yet no one disclosed this $104 policy with me. I will never shop at this or any other Home Depot ever again. Very dissatisfied with their customer service and resolutions. Do not rent a truck from them!"
"Customer service is definitely not a pillar within Home Depots business plan. I've worked with two different stores, and three different associates, all of which could care less about a client's experience. On this rainy day, I've been trying to rent a Home Depot can to pick up a table, but upon arriving at both stores (and after checking the website for availability) I was told that the van (yes, only one per store, was being used by an HD employee for product delivery. Home Depot, you are a multi-national, multi-billion dollar institution, buy a freaking delivery truck for your stores, so that on rainy days (the only time the van is actually needed) it isn't being used by your employees. Truly a faulted policy."
