"I reached out in good faith to get an estimate for doing 2023 taxes. After providing all requested information and meeting with the CPA we were presented with an engagement letter for amending three years past taxes plus doing 2023 taxes. When we asked for an engagement letter just for 2023 taxes we got a random email saying “they are at capacity”. This was after about three weeks of our good faith efforts to work with them. I would say use caution and ask up front if they have capacity before engaging with this firm. UPDATED: Regarding the response…this is not an accurate representation of what happened. We asked during the same meeting on 2/8 when presented with the engagement letter to get a revised letter for just 2023 taxes, which is what we approached this firm for initially in good faith. We were told that the operations manager needed to get us the revised quote for the reduced scope. In actuality we discussed a phased approach because we could not afford to do all that work at once. When I had not heard back about the revised engagement letter with just the 2023 tax scope, I sent a follow up email on 2/12. I was told we would have the revised engagement letter by the end of the week. Instead, on 2/14 we received the random email saying that they were “at capacity”. With no additional explanation. I just hope you will take our experience into consideration in the future and let potential clients know you capacity up front."
