"John Ulmer did my husband's taxes for the year 2012-2015, and his uncle's for a long time as well. He was professional and courteous when we met with him, and he knew what he was supposed to know; we have no complaints about him. When it was clear my husband would need additional help from a more specialized CPA, he suggested giving us a referral to deal with that non-urgent issue, as he did not do this himself. We waited until I could fully devote my time on dealing with this legally, so once I entered the country and married my husband. After we did our current taxes and our estimated payments for Q1, we waited until the official last tax week was over to call his office last night (Thursday, April 19, 2018) to inquire about a referral for our issue. The woman on the phone kindly asked me to call them back the next morning when John Ulmer was in. I did so a few minutes later than her specified time. The woman who picked up the phone this morning (Friday, April 20, 2018, 11 AM) immediately changed tone when I mentioned the issue in my slight accented English, and told me they were much too busy right now when I asked about the referral for our issue. I asked when they were less busy so I could call back then, assuming she meant that she could not give a name and number at this exact moment. She curtly replied "the end of the year, maybe? hah" with an almost snorting laughter at the end I can only presume was followed after some unspoken inside joke about a CPA being busy all the year round. I do not wish to presume it was a derisive laughter because a foreigner wanted time with him. I asked - assuming she did not hear I was simply asking for a referral and not for actual time with John Ulmer - : "So you are so busy this year that you cannot provide me a referral to another CPA like I asked?". She said "Yes." So that was a very fun experience, note the obvious sarcasm. I hope it was recorded, so the true tone of her condescending voice can really shine through when this gets a listen; that patronizing layer was something I could not dip my words in. Congratulations on hiring such a judging woman; she truly has a knack for making people feel less than something she scraped off the bottom of her shoe. Kind regards A former client."
