Reviews of Oyster Bay Seafood Cafe
"Hubby and I stopped here for "Valentine's" dinner before our son's baseball game. I was excited because I love seafood but was sorely disappointed. We started with an appetizer; crab dip. It was bright out promptly... A little too fast for me but the place wasn't busy (it was around 3/4pm). I immediately could smell warm tuna and not crab. I tried the dip and yep... It even tasted like tuna. If it was crab it was the shredded any not lump. We moved on to the main entrees; Cajun redfish (hubby) and jumbo stuffed shrimp. Hubby loved his food while mine missed the mark. Shrimp weren't jumbo... Weren't even butterflied to be stuffed. And the disappointment continued when I revealed the "crab cakes" that were supposed to be stuffed into the shrimp. It was the EXACT same mix that was presented in our appetizer! Everything was covered with this thick white sauce that wasn't appetizing or went well with shrimp. The garlic parsley potatoes were overly seasoned with garlic, no parsley and whole I was told they were oven roasted, they weren't. They looked boiled and mashed (partially). I asked to sub them for a Cesar salad which I didn't eat because it had a vinegar based dressing and not the creamy dressing that I usually get with such a salad. I ended up only eating the 6 sad little shrimp that were supposed to be jumbo and stuffed. Our waiter was cool. He took care of us immediately. We were seated, immediately. But unfortunately, my selection was not one for the books or to recommend. Street parking only."
"I love the atmosphere of this place. It brought chills down my spine; the food was delicious. I had Seafood Gumbo and Calamari. The Seafood Gumbo was amazing! The rice was a little chewy; I don't know if it was supposed to be like that or not, but either way, I enjoyed it immensely."
"This place is really nice. It looks like a small tavern. It wasn't too crowded when I went. I ordered the crab dip, calamari, and Rockefeller oysters. I enjoyed the oysters more than the calamari. The crab dip was my least favorite appetizer. However, everything was good. My picture shows us eating almost have of the appetizer. I also ordered whiskey shrimp and my partner ordered the seafood pasta Alla vodka. My whiskey shrimp was delicious. The sauce was really good. It had bacon pieces and soft bread slices. My partner said the sauce to his seafood pasta was good. I had taste my sauce and his sauce and to me they taste the same. Didn't really see a difference other than this had linguine noodles and mines had no noodles but bacon and bread. I also had a side of beans and rice as a side. Wasn’t too crazy about it. The food overall was good and my one partner agreed and we will come here again."
"Our shared dining experience was the calamari, bowl of the shrimp and lobster bisque, the monster platter, and a couple of beers. The calamari and bisque were most excellent. While the swai (Vietnamese catfish), scallops, and shrimp were exceptionally tasty, the oysters could have been better. The potatoes (they refer to them as frys) were exceptional and actually potatoes slices that were seasoned, thin battered, and fried.. The coleslaw and hush puppies were very good as well. Service was attentive, yet unobtrusive, as it should be. A place to visit again when in the area!"
"Mother's day was busy. No gluten free options so salad was chosen. Lettuce, 2 strips of a carrot, a small bit of tomato, onion rings and dressing. Good presentation but Yuck! Lobster bisque with shrimp, wonderful. Table mate had the fried oysters and enjoyed them. Waiter brought drink with lemon, took it away for a fresh drink and returned with the same cup for lemon taste on rim. Did not refill drinks, did not verify food correct. Luckily, enough other staff passed by to get help needed. The one person bathroom is in the eating area."
