Reviews of Amicalola Falls Lodge & Restaurant
"The view at the restaurant/lodge is absolutely spectacular! However the restaurant employee (my receipt says "Kat") pretty much ruined the experience today. This was my 1st time to the brunch buffet. It wasn't crowded, it was very early for Sunday brunch (11:30). I dined alone and made my way to the register to pay on my way out. (Order #1005 on 2/4/24) I was not in a hurry, so I was just reading the board etc, looking at the map across the lobby, until someone could come ring me up. A young lady (very dark hair, pony tail) came up with an aggressive attitude and said sharply "next time, pay at the table. " I apologized and said "ok I didn't know, Im not staying here, I just drove up for lunch..." and she very curtly cut me off and said again "there is just me here!!" rolled a pen and receipt at me, and stomped away. I didn't mind waiting until she had more time, but I DO mind her horrible attitude! I have never left a restaurant without tipping, but I certainly did this time. Her attitude was completely unnecessary. I was happy to sit down by the fireplace until someone could take my money. Nothing about my demeanor showed any urgency."
"Apparently this place will change buffet or not if they have a large party coming. Which is…weird? Anyways, we got buffet and it was really poor quality food. The lettuce was good. Dressing wasn’t good. “Steak” was straight from a low end cafeteria. Cake looked nice but tasted like little debbies. Mashed potatoes were instant. No gravy. Mac and cheese tasted like it came from a 5 gal bucket. Beans in soup were hard. Priced like a mid range restaurant. Quality of a Piccadilly. Staff was nice though. I recommend going to the welcome center for a gas station sandwich. Its better."
"Went for Christmas day buffet. We have been before and it was much better. This time, it was obviously short staffed. The male and Melanie were clearing tables, seating patrons, doing checks, drinks, etc. We waited 25 min for our 1 PM reservation-lots of empty tables, but not cleared. The shrimp were so overcooked/dried out that it was a shame. Large nice shrimp and inedible. The salad bar and desserts were the only decent choices. Chicken very overcooked and greasy. The so called pot roast was a gelatinous mess in the buffet pan-saw a lot of lookers and no takers. Just awful looking. $80 for 2 seniors with tip. Totally overpriced, horrible food, and slow service. The latter is certainly not the fault of the 4 people that I saw working in the dining room-they did their best but just too much for them to handle every task. They now charge $5 to get into the park. Used to be free if going to restaurant. And surly man at the booth. Told us if we didn't like it, to buy a season pass. Never again. Lovely setting, but simply not worth the hour drive and the $$$. Never again."
"This is a nice restaurant inside the lodge. They like to seat people by the windows for the scenery. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner during our stay. For breakfast, there was a nice buffet of items including fruits, yogurts, French Toast sticks, eggs, sausage links and patties, bacon, roasted potatoes, Danishes, and a Belgian Waffler maker. For lunch there is also a buffet. You can make a really nice salad. There was fried chicken, pulled pork, vegetables, biscuits, cakes. I have included pictures of the buffet for that day. For Dinner there is a menu. We chose the burgers while my daughter had the fried chicken. She also had a brownie a la mode to go. The service was good. She kept my glass full the entire time and even laughed at my corny jokes. I don't include prices in my reviews, because if price affects your review you should probably not be eating out."
"Very beautiful views and kind staff. Delicious food, especially after a five-mile hike. I went for brunch hours on a Sundays and the biscuits, shepherd's pie, and collards were to die for. Awesome views for early November. I didn't stay at the lodge, I just ate there. Gift shoppe is super cute."
