Reviews of Southern Union State Community College Bookstore
"I am a student that has veteran related benefits (Alabama dependent scholarship) that cover $1000 per semester for my books. I rented my books but then decided to return them then buy them instead (with my $1000 per semester). When I returned the books and tried to buy them and the lady told me that I owe a balance. I asked her to call the veteran rep as it is impossible for me to owe a balance because of how much I receive per semester for books. She called him and started giggling on the phone with him(?) not seeming like she was particularly trying to help me(giggling and talking about non-related things while I'm trying to get my books). She also said "They[Me and my Father] seem to think that her books are covered". I have no reason to lie about what my benefits cover. Assumably the veteran rep also more than likely also told her that my books are supposed to be covered. Then she was basically like "I don't know what to do and the only person that does is not here today." To which I asked "Is it possible to call her?". She then said "I don't know the school's policy on calling someone on an off day" with an attitude. Out of five workers in the bookstore, you mean to tell me that only one knows about veteran benefits? Their system is messed up so I was basically only able to purchase two of my books that were within the amount of my return, and then I left. I came back to get my books on another date (maybe a week or so later) another lady told me "we stopped applying the veteran/federal benefits on the 19th." They did not tell me about this date last time, and I was unable to get my books because of their messed up system. The same lady that told me benefits ended on the 19th actually also messed up me being able to get books before class started because she told me I could get supplies and I could not (this messed up my whole account and I was unable to get books until the first day of class last semester), So this is an ongoing issue with this bookstore. I was able to get the remainder of my books today however we had to pay out of pocket (I will be reimbursed by my benefits though). The same original lady that was being rude to me wasn't even the one checking me out and was like "how will you be paying today?" This is a sorry bookstore with terrible customer service and if I could give it less than a 1 star I would. They need to fix their system and hire some new people that aren't lazy and/or actually desire to help students."
"Impossible to get in contact with the bookstore, every number or email besides the managers number works unless it gets sent right to voicemail. My textbook is 2 weeks late and when I finally got in contact with someone about it they had the worst attitude."
"Great School wonderful atmosphere with awesome people"
"I ordered a pumpkin bread slice. Lady said I’ll give you twice slice because it’s small. Only until I walked out I looked in the bag and it was two slices of crust. Like two slices of the ends of the bread loaf. Smh"
"They had everything that I needed for my classes."
