Wheeling Park Playground

"This park needs a lot of updating and it doesn’t have many things to do considering that it’s supposed to be the biggest park in wheeling. The swing area is way to close to the other play area, so it’s hard to keep little kids away from the swings. There are only 2 bigger slides on the other play area. Hardly any fencing, so if not paying attention your child could easily run down to the lake area (extremely not safe! They have a huge retaining wall that kids can easily access and if they fall, they are falling on concrete, and the lake is more like a small pond, non swimming) or onto the busy street! Wished they had more fencing and more play toys for kids. Park over the years seems to be constantly dirty, with trash all over the playgrounds. And just fyi before dark the park rangers come to kick everyone out, I was already in my car grabbing my child’s binkys and the park ranger came to my car window and started pounding on it shining a flashlight in my face! I was not happy because 1 there are no signs signaling what time the park closes, it loosely says “at dusk.” And 2 it was my brand new Land Rover he was beating on! I told him I was leaving, and he drove halfway up the street, turned around, and then parked in front of me shining the flashlight at my face until i left. So beware park rangers are not nice! At the park on fridays, they have inflatables which is nice. However, I had paid for a wrist band earlier that day to swim, and I had to repurchase another wristband for my son to go on a few inflatables. So around 40 bucks spent just to go to the pool and for him to access a few inflatables. They also put the wristbands on extremely tight, which was completely unnecessary. I could barely get a pair of scissors underneath to cut it off. Overall, this park is expensive, closes early, not the cleanest, and outdated. To me, it poses a major safety hazard for toddlers, at the park and around the pond area. But it is a park, and everything is relatively close. Not awful, just could be a lot better maybe if the city updates it."
