Reviews of Macon Rehabilitation & Performance
"Lots and lots of very nice chairs in the waiting room--ALL EMPTY! The receptionist, or whatever she thinks she is, said she was reborn. Must have been reborn as a crab! What a nasty woman. The leader of this place is a guy who doesn't know boundaries. He gets closer, and closer, and closer then he realizes it and becomes snotty, arrogant and shameful. I almost told him we're not friends; I am a patient and that's ALL! I really think his problem is his life revolves around his church and his wife controls everything. He made me feel very uncomfortable in several of the visits. Almost every visit he'd comment on my hair, notice it or the shoes I had on that day. I'm a guy, by the way. Before I first went out there, I called as the doctor had ordered six things. Do you do this, do you do that I asked. "Oh, yes, yes, yes." Well, they don't do water therapy and several of the other things so that reborn Christian crab was lying. Never saw anyone or anything like this place. Only the PTA was professional and knew her job. He knows his job but I don't feel comfortable being in a room with him alone. I will never go back. During therapy, to pass the time, light conversation is often spoken. I don't want to hear your sorted financial details and underwater struggling. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Just because you have a PT license doesn't mean you should go out and open up your own shop! Same thing on the waiting room. There's all these big ugly panels of some hand painted junk. Just because his wife made them doesn't make it art. It's ugly as sin. The only good thing about this place are the waiting room chairs which sit well. The whole waiting room must have been laid out by the controlling wife. Have a bad back, good luck at getting the magazines which they put on the bottom shelf of a table. Don't like Christian music piped in the room? Change the channel. Some Christian music is ok. And, if the Crabby born again woman wants to listen to it, fine. But it's in the waiting room and she can't hear it from there. Worst magazine selection ever! Most of the magazines are so boring. It's like "Married to be and planning your bass boat accessories" in one cover boring. Of all the places in Macon for therapy, this has to be one of the most comical, farcical and messed up place in town. Everyone has a story and wants to tell it be it good or bad. If I see a review that simply says "greatest thing since sliced bread" I have to wonder if it's simply padding his reviews. Another poster commended on the born again crab lady. She has no business working with the public with that attitude. As far as sammy goes, I see a ten year old plus picture of him on his website. He lists as his published works his senior thesis. Who does this? It's not a book and it's not even available online that I could see. Google had one link to the actual work which I'm sure is at genius level but that link was down. Dude, sammy, sorry, but I'm not your friend, have never been your friend and I don't want to be your friend. To be in a room with him alone and the topic of his choice is what are you doing this weekend is rather creepy. Maybe he's taken it off by now, but don't trust a therapist with a pot belly. I read the review about sammy discharging her after she tried to talk insurance with crab woman. I had a similar incident as the time limitation was coming up because the therapy had been drawn out for so long. I called the insurance and the woman put me on hold, talked to a supervisor and said I do not need a new script, the insurance just needed to be notified to extend it. I had several issues and stopped therapy for a week, plus he had the great idea of "let's do it two times a week," therapy that is. At least I'm pretty sure that's what he meant. Crab lady would not believe me and insisted I needed a new script. What followed was simply surreal."
"I've been there several times over a 3 year period. I love the entire staff, they treat you like family. Everyone is caring and helpful. The therapists are always on point with the care you need. I recommend them to anyone who asks me about it. Thanks Sam, Shan, Renee, and Shannon. Sam and Shan, you have really helped me to get back to a better place in being a whole being and not feel sorry for myself."
"I LOVE this place !! I have been a patient off and on since 2017. My first encounter was when I was having issues with my back. Prior to going to Macon Rehab & Performance I received PT elsewhere for a knee replacement. I had been discharged from that facility and was still walking with a bent knee. Sammy noticed this while treating my back and we had my Ortho MD order another round of PT for my knee once my back was better. Before arriving at Macon Rehab & Performance I had just given up hope and thought this was how I was going to have to walk the rest of my life. With the guidance from Sammy and Chan I am so thankful to have a decent walking pattern back !! The swelling in that leg has decreased significantly and it's 10 times better than it was before the surgery !! In the summer of 2019 I was involved in an accident and from that accident I had to have my other knee replaced. I immediately knew I would be calling Sammy to handle my therapy. I had to have PT prior to the surgery and post - op. Then during my surgery another issue evolved with my hip and Sammy is now treating me for this issue. So I have been a steady patient 3 times a week since July. Every staff member is very friendly and helpful with any issue I may have from Insurance/Financial to changing my appointment times (which with my work schedule tends to happen a lot) Each time I've had to change an appointment Shannon or Renee have been very understanding and patient with me. If you want personal, QUALITY, Physical Therapy with Therapists (and Staff) who TRULY care about your outcome, this is the place you need to be !!! I can't stress enough to this whole staff how THANKFUL I am for each and every one of them !!! This day and time it is hard to find a trust factor in healthcare ~ here there is no question for me. I will refer my family and friends to Macon Rehabilitation & Performance ( Sammy Bonfim) without hesitation !!!!"
"The actual physical therapist was great. But I never saw more than one other person at any time I was there. For them to say they stay so booked up and busy they sure dont have many patients. The receptionist is the rudest and laziest person I have ever seen. When it got close for my Ins needing continuation papers this lazy woman bluntly told me that it was too early and it could be done another time. The main therapist Sammy came to me talking to me about my Ins. I tried to explain to him how my ins policies work but he continued to compare my ins with his mothers ins and swore they were the same. Now this man never had more than 15 words to say to me any other time I was there. The following day Sammy chose to call me and "discharge" me from their facility. I just started out patient therapy in Sept after having a major spinal fusion of 8 disk in July and just because they are too lazy to actually confirm all my benefits on two ins policies they chose to discharge me. There was a time when there was a small child running around the physical therapy room while her mother was doing her workout. There are signs posted that this is prohibited but for some i guess they are exceptional. There is no way I would recommend this facility to anyone at all. The only reason I chose to use it was because of convenience. I guess sometimes convenience is not the best thing after all."
"Absolutely some of the best physical therapy! Very patient oriented with great results!"
