"It was a pretty decent place at first, a little run down but not terrible for people on a budget. After the first year, we started getting roaches from one of the neighbors. Our apartment was kept obsessively clean. Maintenance would spray a little insecticide and take off. A week later the roaches would be back and it only got worse. It was terrible! I found a nest of them, 100s when I went to pull the fridge out to clean behind it one day. They were living under the carpet in the living room. We would get them in our bedroom! It was crazy! Then mice started coming in. Nothing got done with them. I trapped dozens of them over several months. Also, there is something really shady about the whole setup. We signed our lease at an orthodontist office and paid our deposit and $50 cash application fee to the maintenance man and got a receipt on a torn in half piece of paper? For what they are, the rent is high but it's out of the way, there is no tenant screening process if you have trouble passing the application process at other places, lots of kids around and the river view is fairly scenic."
