"Mr Gessner is one of the best counselors I have ever met. He is kind hearted and shows alot of compassion. He helped my son as well as myself and my daughter thru the hardest time of our lives. My son was his patient but we were able to be with him during the session and he helped us cope with the loss of my husband. Thank you so much may God bless you."
"Couples Counseling / Therapy: Our experience was similar to others who felt he was distracted and uninterested. I can barely tolerate that from other professions and definitely not going to accept it in therapy... Both in person and on the phone (he likes to text) after our first and only meeting, Daryl left a lot to be desired and has blatantly crossed the line from no-nonsense to well beyond blunt to the point of carelessness... hard pass. His phone went off during his 'schpeel' (his name, not ours) multiple times and he would not put it on silent or airplane mode... seriously? If he doesn't understand boundaries he cannot help us. During the initial visit ($125) he talked 80% of the time and we were to sit and listen and only answer pointed questions with our 20% - zero deep dive and no interest into our context or issues - it was 100% about Daryl and his 'system' - which was 'you should be able to figure it all out in 5 visits'. And don't look backwards, only fwd... as if he doesn't have the patience (or skill) to unpack anything or learn context so he can gain any appreciation for YOUR situation, he just wants to impose his process and burn fwd to his next clients - at least that is how we felt after making our donation. He told us he was going to send us a text on the following Monday so that he did NOT put us on the spot to reschedule... when he texted, we had decided we wanted to ask the clarifying question above - was his 5 step process the difference between counseling and therapy, where it may take longer... and this is where it got weird and IMO completely unprofessional. If he had just replied and answered our question - I would have not left this review as it would just not be a good fit....but instead, he did not reply until we chased him a week later asking if he got our last message and if it wasn't a good fit, we'd love a referral. His reply? "I thought I replied, I'm on vacation, I can help you but if you are looking for homework like filling out assignments, I'm not a good fit. My system is based on getting you to go out together and learn how to talk together. This is going to be learning how to communicate without talking about about family, friends, kids and work. I'll reach out Monday for scheduling." Pretty presumptuous. Daryl didn't really answer our question (clearly has better things to do on vacation - but should have dealt with it before you left), he made excuses for not responding and it didn't come across as sincere in the slightest. Needs to work on bedside manner."
"Visiting Daryl at Cartersville Counseling has always been a positive experience from the very first session. Talking with him puts me at ease and I feel like I am in a safe environment to express the things that Iβm going through with someone who understands. Daryl is empathetic and passionate about what he does, I would highly recommend him."
"Daryl is an amazing individual and going to him for help was a great investment. I love the way he approaches issues, as he shows unparalleled understand and wisdom. I went to him for couples therapy and he very literally saved my relationship. I have also done one on one sessions with him and they were just as helpful. 10/10"
"I had never been to see a counselor before and was very nerveous but Daryl made me feel very comfortable and I honestly felt a lot better after my first session with him. I recommend him to anyone looking for a good counselor."
