"So much fun and it teaches you a lot of good Morales."
"WARNING!!! 14 yr. old sent to E.R. by 6th degree Master Black Belt Our 14-yr. old son had been attending this school for less than a year and had been sparring for around 5 weeks. On July 2nd he was sparring with Chris Cole, a 6th degree master black belt that is 50 plus yrs. old. According to our son, during sparring Mr. Cole had stepped back and watched his feet and then stepped in close to his face to speak to him. Chris Cole had his left fist between his and my sons face. My son put his hands down to listen because the higher-ranking belt is the one that sets the pace and you do not hit someone that is talking to you. Mr. Cole then said that he was going to hit my son as hard as he was hitting. My son nodded ok because in his time sparring at this school and his lifetime of never being punched by an adult, he thought that Mr. Cole was going to then spar harder. Instead of backing up and then sparring Mr. Cole used his right hand to sucker punch our son in his solar plexus. Our son went down. We spent the night in the E.R., he received Morphine for pain, had a CAT scan, was on a liquid, diet, and had deep bruise contusions that took weeks to heal. Initially, we did not know this was something other than a sparring accident. We did not know that Mr. Cole was upset with something our son was doing and thought it was his place to teach him a lesson. According to one of the two owners Tracy Owens, 2nd owner Carol Lester never took the time to contact us, this is how “they”, she and Chris Cole, were trained. It’s old school. Tracy did not agree with Chris Cole punching my teen and admitted that she would be upset if this happened to her daughter, but still allows Chris Cole to train and spar at her school. Tracy admitted that Chris Cole did it on purpose but said she was not sure if he meant to hit my teen that hard. So, do you want an adult 6th degree Black Belt that is sparring with your child to not know his own strength or one that purposely punches kids hard enough to send them to the E.R.? We joined Martial Arts, so our kids could gain confidence, get a good workout, and make some friends because we’d just moved back to the area. Instead of gaining confidence, we have a teen that has lost trust and feels betrayed. As someone that has coached children, I can not imagine walking up to a kid, with the baseball they just threw at me, and saying "I'm going to throw this at you as hard as you threw it at me" and then instead of going back to the plate and throwing the ball from there...I throw it directly into the kids face and send them to the E.R. According to the GA Police, both scenarios are civil because we chose to allow our kids to participate."
"Master Owens is a wonderful instructor, as are all the instructors who help to mold the people they teach."
"I have trained here for many years. The instructors are very knowledgeable and are very interested in seeing you improve. Their children's programs are excellent as well. I highly recommend them!"
