"Dr. Hume is a very experienced professional. He services a lot of people with a variety of conditions/medical history. I was momentarily disappointed with his office when they did not give him our file before our consult, but he stuck to his word to pursue our options. He worked out a center of excellence and referred us to the appropriate office BEFORE our second consultation. This was not Dr. Hume passing us off to not deal with us, he made sure the other provider could do EVERYTHING we needed/wanted. He made sure it was the right fit for us and respected our need for locality. He made sure that they were a center of excellence for the genetic condition. We stayed in contact with Dr. Hume through this process so he could be as quick as possible. His team and him have been excellent providers. It is hard navigating the medical world especially when dealing with rare genetic disorders. He made this whole process easier by being a dedicated and experienced professional. Even if he doesn't have a lot of experience with your specific issue, he will not give up to find you the appropriate care. I would caution any reader of reviews to take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Many times, very intelligent people are quirky communicators. That does not make them bad physicians."
"Currently seeing him because I have prior history of gestational diabetes and my babies were heavier birthweights, but NOT UNHEALTHY. Both of my children were born healthy at 9 lbs and the other 10 lbs. So I’m seeing him to monitor my babies growth prior to having my 3rd and last c-section. The ultrasound tech was OK, not impressed. However Dr.Humes only spoke to her upon entry and gave me a sheet of paper to come back in 6 weeks. That’s it! That’s how my appointment went, no “hello”, “how are you feeling?”, not even an introduction or review of my ultrasound. The kicker is I watched him go into another room with another patient and he was lit up like Christmas!!!"
"I have seen Dr Hume with both of my pregnancies. He saved my second pregnancy and for that, I am forever thankful! He is very direct and straight to the point. He is an extremely knowledgeable physician and the staff is always quick and professional! 10/10 would recommend his office."
"The intent of this review is to share my experience with new patients and hope that it's helpful. My first appointment with Dr. Hume was not what I expected. At the time, I would've given him 1-2 stars. He's very intelligent. I think his degree is from Duke, but I could be wrong. He spoke only to me and didn't address my husband. He spoke in medical jargon that was nearly impossible to understand and he didn't ask if we had any questions. The ultrasound that followed was terrible. There are 3-4 ultrasound techs and I got the one who I'd venture to say hates her job. She was brief and rude. Anything I said to her was met with a response of annoyance. The appointment ended on a confusing, grim note. I was so upset I called the next day to express my feelings about the appointment and to ask for clarification. The nurses, Kathy & Katrina, were kind and helpful. Lesson 1: Ask the nurses to explain anything I did not understand. A few days later, Dr. Hume himself called with the genetic test results. He started with an apology. I have a lot of respect for that because most doctors wouldn't care. Since then, he has had much better bedside manner and uses words that non-medical professionals can understand. Don't be alarmed that he is brief, to the point and won't ask many questions about the mom. Lesson 2: I figured out his purpose is to focus on the health of my baby. My OB was more focused on my health and followed Dr. Hume's information regarding the baby. As I mentioned there is one ultrasound tech who is very unpleasant. There are two ultrasound techs who are pleasant. Teresa was somewhat brief, but talked to me patiently. (New moms have questions; we're interested in our babies.). The best ultrasound tech, hands down, is Donna. Lesson 3: I requested her every appointment after meeting her. She's very thorough and will double or triple check her measurements. She talks to the patients and shares in their excitement. She's absolutely fabulous. The office staff was ok. They did their job. I'm about to give birth. After figuring the ins and outs of this office, I no longer dreaded my appointments and was able to have some positive experiences. I hope this helps."
"I have had 4 appointments with Dr. Hume during my pregnancy. Each time I have been disappointed by his unfriendly and borderline rude staff. Dr. Hume is professional, however, I don't always feel treated like a person when he comes in the room and speaks mostly to the ultrasound specialist. You're seeing this type of doctor, typically, when something is abnormal with your pregnancy so I would think this office would show some compassion and treat you like a person."
