"I was not given pain control in the immediate post-op recovery period. The nurse advocated for me but whoever was in charge of writing the orders failed me. IV Tylenol after a major surgery is neglectful. My pain was ignored by the doctors. I was only given 0.5 of dilaudid when I said my pain was severe. That medicine does not last and I am pretty healthy and young and I was obviously in very real pain. I was distended for 5 days. I was burnt on my labia majora. I had to beg for meds when I got home. I took the ibuprofen prescribed but that wasn't helping. Major surgery needs more than ibuprofen. I had to call and beg but I was lied to and they didn't send anything to my pharmacy. I called again, they tried to tell me that 800mg of ibuprofen prescribed is stronger than 800mg ibuprofen OTC. When I told them that it in fact was not they finally prescribed 6 tabs of oxycodone 5's, which is still ridiculous for post op day 1. Patients shouldn't have to ration meds to just take the edge off of the pain. Dental procedures in my past gave better patient care in that area. My throat was sore for 9 days, an excessive amount of time. My bleeding was almost done by Sun but Mon after the procedure I bled so heavily I had to go to the doctors office to find the bleed. Every time I pulled down my pants that day a puddle of blood splashed on the ground and was running down my legs into my socks. No one told me that I bled during surgery/was at a higher risk for post op bleeding. I called multiple x's before they answered, then was put on hold after I said I was bleeding heavily. They told me they would call back. 1 hr went by before they did so. I was stuck at work because I can't afford to miss days. They got a description of the bleed an hour after I told them bright red blood per vagina, soaking about 2 pads an hour. Then they said again that they would call me back. They never called me back. After I described something that was 1 pad an hour away from hemorrhage. I had to show up and tell them again in person, since I was obviously very low priority. They didn't even know who I was when I showed up and said again that I was concerned about an obvious, potentially life-threatening post-op complication. I had to wait in the waiting room before they brought me back. I needed immediate care. Again, all of this was neglectful. I'm pleased that dr. Thomas burse did finally stop the bleed. At what point is it concerning that 2 of the most important post-op complications were ignored? To recap: burnt labia, sore throat for 9 days, ibuprofen for major surgery, and very heavy bleeding, all ignored until I begged repeatedly for anyone to give me patient care. I was also told that my surgery, since preventative, would be covered 100% by insurance and i confirmed with my ins company. I was told 5 days before that it will set me back $6,000. They had scheduled my pre-op appointment after my surgery. They never called to even tell me i had a separate hospital preop appointment. I found out the week before and they had to fit me in. They moved surgery time up w/o telling me. They left a message after phones were off for the weekend. I also was not given pain control for my colposcopy. I was lied to that women do not have nerve endings there (we do). I will attach photos of the dirty, re-used jars of vinegar, morsels, and saline used for the colposcopy. I cried because that felt violating and i was again ignored, despite my tears. I asked them to replace the jars with new, clean ones and they told me they were clean and did not trade them out for clean ones. Horrible experiences nearly every time i've seen this doctor. I had tests run earlier this year and they did not call me to tell me about 2 abnormal results. I found out by chance, logging in to the portal for a confirmation of what i assumed were negative results (since weeks went by without any call i assumed they were okay) Turns out i needed to schedule a colposcopy for abnormal pap smear/precancerous cells on my cervix. They didn't call to tell me that at all either."

"They are a warm and welcoming practice. I absolutely loved Dr Burse! She was very sweet and really listened to what was going on. I felt like she was working with me and what I’m comfortable with as opposed to other gynecologist I’ve had in the past. It was a breath of fresh air!"
