Reviews of Women's Health
"This review is solely based on Melani Patrice Cornelius-Sanders, MD. I sought out Dr. Sanders be she was a black woman OBGYN near me. I went in to check on a cyst I previously knew of. Found out 1 cyst turned to 2 cysts and they were pretty large and I needed surgery. Initial visit (August 2022) *Stockbridge location* - vaginal ultrasound was done and it was determined I had 2 cysts and they were rather large. -surgery was discussed as being necessary. I indicated I would like for the procedure to take place this year. *A few days later I get a call indicating available surgery days and times. Scheduled a biopsy appointment as well during this time. I specifically asked how long the appointment would be and take because I knew I had a cross town appointment the same day I could not be late for. Was assured it wouldn’t take longer than 30 min and I would be in and out and to ensure I make my appointment I was offered the very first appointment of the morning. Biopsy (late August- early September 2022) *This was at the locust grove location* -arrived as the very first appointment for the morning. Was there early. Sat in the waiting room for about 20 min. I am called back and told as I’m walking back the doctor is running late. I asked (in a frustrated tone) why I wasn’t informed when I arrived at my appointment. The nurse nonchalantly stated these things happen. I told her I understood and reminded her that open communication (while I was sitting in the waiting room) would have been the professional way to handle this situation. #This was a red flag but I allowed it to go on because I’m focused on getting my mind ready for surgery. Pre Op (early September 2022) *locust grove - come in, go over paperwork. I read over the procedure paperwork throughly as I am sitting in the exam room awaiting the doctor to come in. - I have a list of questions about the surgery, her success rate, what her plan of action is if I have to be switched from vaginal hysterectomy to being cut open, etc. for Dr. Sanders. As I am going through the questions, I can tell Dr. Sanders becomes irritated. It’s as if I am not supposed to ask anything and I should just sign and shut up. One notable interaction that sticks out to me is when she is going over how she will preform the surgery and she mentions “I will make an incision in your vagina to get the uterus out” I state, “oh I didn’t know you had to cut me (my vagina)” Dr. Sanders states and I quote, “Well how else am I supposed to get it out?” (With such a smug and arrogant tone) I ended with, “Well I don’t know that’s why I asked”. #The entire post op appointment was extremely off putting and a red flag but again, I let it go because my survey was 4 days away. -I go to the front and ask if there was anything else needed from me or that I needed to know. I was told I had everything and to be sure I bring my paperwork with me for surgery. -I left *** 5 minutes after I leave the clinic I receive a phone call from Dr. Sanders’ office. The young lady on the phone was the same receptionist I had just spoken with prior to leaving. She tells me the survey cost. I thank her and pause… she says to me I have to pay it today. Shocked and confused I asked why when I have insurance. She transferred me to billing. I was told that you have to pay the hospital fees up front and they are due the date of the pre op appointment. This was red flag number three and the one that caused me to cancel the entire surgery. Not once was I told I would have to pay anything the day of my pre op appointment. In summary: -Women’s health specialists lack clear communication with their patients. -Dr. Sanders’ bedside manner is nonexistent and she really does a wonderful job at making patients feel as uncomfortable as possible. -Just remembered this gem (The reception staff at the Stockbridge location talk BAD about patients and because the front is open everyone can hear it.) In light of the recent TikTok ‘icks video from the Emory nursing staff, I’d thought I let it be known they do it here too. 0/10"
"I HIGHLY recommend Women's Health Specialists, I've been going here for years and refuse to go anywhere else. Everyone is so nice and understanding, Mrs.Janeen is one of the best! She always gets me in anytime I need to. All the physicians/MD are AMAZING! BEST OBGYN AROUND!"
"Janeen at the front desk is always so nice and polite, she brings a smile to my face as soon as I come in which helps make the whole visit pleasant. Everyone at the Locust Grove location is pleasant and is making my pregnancy appointments awesome!"
"I would not recommend this office. I had an appointment for my yearly exam; During my visit I had to bring my two year old daughter with me. When arriving I checked in and filled out paperwork. Due to covid I did have my temperature checked and had to have a mask on which was fine. As I am filling out my paperwork the front deck associate came over to me and asked if I told anyone that I was going to bring a “visitor” with me. I looked at her confused and replied no. Then she said she needed to check to see if they could still see me since I brought a “visitor” with me and they were not notified. After a few minutes she came back and told me they could still see me but next time I needed to let them know a head of time. It was been a few weeks since my appointment and I am still honestly confused as to how bringing my two year old daughter with me would be considered bringing a “visitor” with me. A visitor (in my opinion) would be a friend, relative or neighbor maybe... not my young daughter. Things happen, which was the case in my situation, and had to bring my daughter with me last minute. I would think an OBGYN office would understand this and not make me have to call ahead of time to ask if it’s okay that I bring her. I also think it’s confusing that my appointment potentially could have been canceled because of this. I would recommend to this office that when a patient calls to make an appointment, that the office staff explains to the patient that not even their young children can accompany them in the office. I was also left in the waiting room for about 45 minutes to an hour waiting for the doctor .. then the doctor rushed my exam after explaining they were short staffed. For a place that was so considered that I brought a “visitor” with me, they didn’t care too much to make my visit smooth and timely. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere."
"I had my first visit here with Dr. McIntosh and I was very happy. She is straightforward and to the point, which was nice. She was professional and knowledgeable. The whole visit took an hour and the staff was nice! Of course with COVID, I had to get my temp taken and wear a mask the whole time but I was literally the only patient in the office at the time (9:30AM appt.) and there was nobody in the waiting area when I was leaving! I heard about this practice from a close friend of mine and I am so glad that I to see Dr. McIntosh!"
