Reviews of University House Midtown
"This apartment sucks. Ive been living here for 3 years because it's cheap. It used to be alright, but then they thought they were worth something more and upped prices to 1400. No one signed so they're struggling to fill. Have elevation problems every week, parking gate hasn't worked in a year. Lived here 3 years and have always had problems with our washers that they were never able to fix. Wifi was out for a couple days, didn't get water for a couple days. Had a roach and fruit fly problem for a while. Management sucks, but I think they just changed. All the positive reviews are definitely fake. I've literally never written a review and I wasn't gonna write a review until management tried to bribe us with cookies into giving them positive reviews."
"Very good place to live. The workers are fast to fix appliances and always have sweet treats to give out to the residents. Love living here and it is so close to campus. Definitely worth the price!!!’"
"I must say, the new management at University House Midtown is absolutely amazing! Their energy and dedication are truly transforming the community. I’ve happily renewed my lease and can’t wait to see the exciting developments ahead under their leadership, looking forward to finishing my last year at University House."
"I lived here from 2020 summer to 2023 summer in a 4b4b unit. The apartment itself did have lots of problems. No water for 48 hours (but just once), fire alarm (in total around 5 times for the past three years staying here) we are in higher floor so never had midnight fire alarm but friends on lower alarm experienced several times. They started to replace the old access control system using fob with a new mobile based system. The new system was a complete trash and the door on p1 is always broken. Also half the elevators will be broken all year. (Just my own experience) The good thing is that me and my roommates rarely had lost packages and myself was not charged any move out fees, and my roommates were charged for only about 100. Honestly speaking, our unit was returned in a poor condition since we stayed here for three years and didn’t hire cleaning service to do deep cleaning. So we were pretty surprised that we were barely charged. Maybe they raise their rent now but we signed the lease in a reasonable price. For three years, around 1100 on average per month."
"Honestly I was able to survive here for a year just because Matthew and team were sort of helpful. But seriously they need to work on a lot of stuff. Upon move out there were several charges which were unfair. They charged me for cleaning of the common area where the trash and food of left behind by the other resident and i had made efforts to clear out all that did belong to me. When I raised this with the team they asked me to get the person to accept that it's their mess. Like why would they accept that it's their mess? Also, when I had moved in, there was expired moldy food in the fridge, all the cupboards were filled with food items and there were dirty dishes in the sink. When i raised it with the management, they said that they cannot touch that as it belongs to the resident staying then. Irrespective of a resident renewing the lease or not, I deserved a clean apartment upon move in because I was paying a full rent (actually pretty high rent). I spent days to clean that apartment, and the resident who had renewed her lease said none of the food was hers, basically left behind by the residents who moved out. When it is illegal for them to touch other's stuff to clean out, how is it not illegal for me to touch the stuff of the other resident up on move out. I can only ask the person and not force them to clean their mess. Also, included in the move out charges were LED lights marks on the walls near the ceiling in the common area. They definitely cannot be noticed by a short person and in the mess of an apartment they gave me, who had time to notice all that because it was apparently my duty to clean out. Never during my stay did we have LED lights up in the common area. So basically they didn't even give us a repainted unit but did charge that as damage and put the repaint cost as a move out cost. Which is ridiculous. There is no way that unit was repainted for our move in. When I did dispute the charges, they asked me to find the person who is responsible for the markings, which is again a ridiculous ask. I hope they work better on figuring out who is responsible for what instead of blindly charging everyone for someone else's negligence. p.s. attaching the photos of how I got the apartment. Honestly I am happy I am out of there."
