"I am a studant at Sail and I absolutly love it. My mom atended Sail and so naturally she wanted me to attend. I am so glad she convinced me to go there instead of Leon. It is a school that has helped me love learning. I feel personal connections with my teachers and I dont want to let them down. Sail is not only a place where I feel comfortable learning. It is also a place where I feel like I can be myself. It is a safe place for learningvand.growing and I could not have asked for a better school."
"Before I begin, I just wanted to warn you that it'll be long. However, I assured you that it's for a legitimate reason. First off, a lot of the teachers were friendly while being able to teach their subject. In fact, the MCR teacher let me retake a test with his help, so i could pass the course. And there was a teacher who taught Tai Chi, Geometry, etc. that nominated me for an award. (I'd like to say more good things about him if he didn't see somebody being rude to me then overlooked it. I guess there was no reason to despite me just talking to him.) However, some teachers were quite annoying to be around. And to make it worse, they were the only one available for that particular subject, which I ended, so I had to bite the bullet. Speaking of teachers, I had two noteworthy ones that I have a particular hate/dislike of. The first one was an English teacher, that I had for two classes. I liked him until my 12th grade because, that's when he would preach every class period and interrupt a student. Of course, I saw that happen once in 9th grade. He even did that to me (and I'm a rather sensitive person!) The second one was the Digital Photography teacher. Don't get me wrong. She wasn't that mean. It's just that she once invented her own definition of still life just to decline one of my pictures. (Just in case you're wondering, it was a picture of some branches. As much as I'll admit that's not creative and not still life, I won't hesitate to point her out that her definition wasn't even right!) That said, it wasn't just them. I remember overhearing a conversation where this red-haired lady wrote the first guy up for a trivial reason. That one incident changed my opinion of her. (And to think respect's supposed to be stressed here!) In addition, for a school where everyone's supposed to be friendly, some students fell short of that. In fact, the worst one was this girl who had no qualms about being a flat-out bully to a nice boy and nobody ever stood up to her. (I wanted to. However, I'm not confrontational most of the time I and imagined that wouldn't do any good.) On another note, there was a change that didn't make much sense. It involved dogs. Once the new school year with the current principle started, the only dog allowed was MJ. Never mind that the year before that, somebody bought a well-behaved Pomeranian over for lunch. And to top it off, there was no explanation for it. Furthermore, I liked attending lunch bunch at first. I first saw it as a way to eat Hungry Howies pizza because, when my family moved, we didn't have one near us anymore. I also saw as a way to connect with students who had problems. However, that stopped mattering after a time due to some of the students. There was one boy in a 9th grade meeting that ate one or two slices, swore at someone else, then left. Still, the bigger incident happened between me and another student. Keep in mind that I wasn't even being mean yet that warranted a rude response. To make it worse, he related to one of our 7th period teacher and somehow couldn't fathom me being upset! So, it got to the point I started to hang out with my two friends rather than attended. Moreover, I thought the library deserved a mention. Not because I found few books that I liked, I kept getting notices that I hadn't returned a book. This happened despite the facts that I returned them early and the librarian would always be able to check that it was on the shelf. On the plus side, I found that nobody bullied me aside from a health class in 9th grade. It didn't help that the teacher didn't intervene despite me complaining about it. Her reasoning was we can't control somebody else's behavior. I just walked away angry. That and I made a couple of friends. It was just a journey getting there because, I'd find somebody who'd seemed nice. Then, they would show their true colors and I'd stop hanging out with them."
"As a graduate of SAIL, this is the best school in all of Leon county. You developed personal connections with your teachers and don't feel as pressured as you might feel at other schools."
"I attend this school and its easily the best school, my most favorite school ever. They're extremely accepting of who you are and what you like. Now because of this, you should definetly send your kid there. The interview process is totally worth it."
"You have to ignore immature and hateful comments about this school. SAIL has saved many a kid's life - from creating a safe environment for teenagers to be themselves - to be different - without fear of bullying or criticism from teachers to giving them a place to go to talk about their fears and hopes and dreams, SAIL is the safest most nurturing place you could put your child."
