Reviews of Montford Middle School
"DON'T COME TO THIS SCHOOL. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE. Bullying is horrible at this school.I thought coming here would be great, but i was sadly mistake.Students here are satin's children first of all.I have seen people bullied to hard to the point of wanting to kill themselves. The counselors suck all they say is they can handle it themselves like its easy for people to talk about their feelings. The no refund policy on field trips is bull.Like we pay over a hundred dollars for field trips only for them to get cancelled. We have this stupid program called champions where we are literally forced to work out.The special needs kids get treated like babies here and kids often like to laugh at them and treat the to do embarrassing stuff. Why dont the boys get dress coded like i didn't know that the holes in my pants are so sexy that i have to change into pe shorts because its so distracting. No off the shoulder shirts are you stupid. The hallways are so crowded and i am literally 5,7 with a bottom locker and the person above me is 4,7.Like the end of the day is the worse. Also only about 5 percent of this is not white. The teachers suck like they teach us a subject for 5 minutes and say here you go dont fail. The school is not that old but disgusting there is mold growing everywhere and dont even get me started on how bad the food is and how mean the lunch ladies are."
"It's a good school but i would work out maybe more pathways and the buses aren't very safe either, there are a lot of kids cursing and using foul language. Also by the way the bus drivers do stop the bus and tell the kids to stop but the kids won't listen to the bus driver, i would just work on those things if i were the one in charge."
"montford middle school is a great school and in henry robert's review he said coach wilkes was a bad teacher, but she is retired now. also none of the teachers are sexist and most of them are very kind given all the stress of dealing with hundreds of teenagers. montford middle school is truly the best school i have been to."
"I am a former student(2012-2015), and I'd have to say that 6th grade overall was pretty good despite the shortcomings. 7th and 8th grade however were just horrible and I don't have room for all my stories. Maybe it was just some bad luck, but the majority of my teachers treated my classes like dirt. I remember talking to friends about their experiences with certain teachers and finding out that the teachers would treat certain classes differently; being kind to some while horrible. When a complaint was made on a specific teacher, the guidance counselor gave a 'That teacher is a good personal friend of mine' excuse. The school claims to have a 'Zero tolerance on bullying' policy; but throughout all of my years I dealt with being teased in class right in front of teachers who did nothing about it and would only take any action if I started trying to handle it myself when all else failed(I always did my best to remain mature about things and handle them appropriately without sinking down to a bully's level). A specific instance in 6th grade would be when I was constantly picked on for my name and appearance by many students; when I went to the counselor for help she told me she "couldn't just punish the whole class" apparently it was a "too many guilty, no punishment scenario"(it wasn't restricted to just one class, that was just for the specific one). It doesn't stop there. In 7th grade I had been dealing with a girl who had been verbal bulling me for months in the middle of class; the teacher did absolutely nothing to stop it. The instant I started defending myself(of course I didn't go crazy with insults or get physical) it became a 'going both ways' scenario and I remember being made to apologize to her. The fact that she had been bullying me for so long didn't matter. On to 8th grade, a boy would tell people that he would kill them if he ever saw them outside of school. The bus was no safe place either. I remember a boy dropping a seatbelt buckle on my head, breaking my headphones in the process. These were not the only instances. P.E. was horrible during my time too. The coaches hardly worked with us and would just wheel out carts of equipment then stand there watching us, giving a bad grade to those who sat. A personal experience of mine would be in 6th grade(my only P.E. year thankfully). Before class we were allowed to socialize as long as we stayed seated in our assigned area. I was following all set rules, and was talking to my neighboring friend(like many students were doing). Suddenly, a coach comes up and tells me to 'sit on the wall'(a 'time-out' sort of punishment that would earn one a bad grade for the day). I was singled out as the only one punished out of the entire gym of students while I was doing nothing different. When my mom called to complain the coach gave the excuse that 'groups of students were red flags for cell phones'. I had been talking to one person, and had no cell phone, nor was I asked about a phone. Aside from my personal story, we had to do this program called 'Champions' serval times about every other week. Under any other circumstance, I would've been fine with the program; it was fun at times. The problem with it was the orchestration of exercises. We had to do sit-ups, 'super mans', leg lifts, and many other ground exercises literally on the ground and floor. We were divided into groups and taken to different areas. We never given mats and the softest spot we ever did these exercises was the grass/dirt, every other time was either on the hard wooden gym floor or the dirty concrete of outdoor basketball courts. I often suffered back pain and tailbone and when going for a professional massage I was told of the clearly detectable stress I had. In conclusion, I don't know of any new policies or improvements; but given my time at Montford, I would NOT recommend it. I hope this post can help people to avoid having bad experiences similar to mine and maybe even improve the school. If you have read this post entirely, I thank you for your patience and consideration for my thoughts."
"I'm going in to the 8th grade and this school. It has treated me very good. It is the best school l have been too. I thank all the teacher who have taught me here and hope the new students and parents will like it as much as me!"
