Reviews of Fortis College in Dothan
"If I could give no stars I would. This is a scam. Don't go here. You won't be able to get a job with the certificate they give you. The student loans for this are way to expensive."
"It has been 6 + years since I graduated with my Medical Assistant Certification, and I have to say that it was truly one of the best things i've ever done. The work was manageable (but I HAD to study lol), the frequent ceremonies for small milestones throughout the program were very rewarding and the career outlook has been even better for me. I have worked in many specialties over the past 6 years such as Cardiology, Neurosurgery & Spine, Family medicine & my home specialty, Women's Health. I've never been faced with adversity within my job search/hiring process nor have I struggled to find employment. Disclaimer: I took this certification and moved to Florida/Georgia post graduation, so I cannot attest to the job outlook in AL. Pros: Intimate Classroom setting. Great instructors. Celebration of milestones/accomplishments Positive Career outlook Work-life balance (I worked while in this program) Cons: - Cost - The college paid for the CMA exam post-graduation, however, the material taught throughout the program most aligned with the RMA exam. ( I took both exams. Failed the CMA, paid out of pocket for the RMA and realized it covered everything I learned in class )"
"I can only speak to the HVAC program here, avoid it. This place is a diploma mill. Everything they promise you in the sales pitch is a lie. This is one of the most expensive HVAC programs in the country, and you won't even get an A.A.S. degree out of it. They don't have the proper equipment to train you. They don't have the proper faculty to teach you. They don't have the proper staff to manage the program. Most of your class time will consist of "study hall" time where you ask "why am I even here? I can read my text book at home." You won't follow the curriculum, most classes will be "well what do you guys wanna work on?" They'll give you the answers to the tests right before the tests. You won't be graded on practical application. You won't even be evaluated on whether or not you can apply the trade practically. Hey, this place is great if you just want a certificate that says you did it. It stinks to high heaven if you actually want to learn something."
"You can't just rate a school on the teachers devotion to there students ! Try rating it on number of students finding a job 40,000 dollars later in a state other than Alabama ! you should really do your research on the school you want to go to. Just saying ! I went I loved all my teacher but Maybe one, and the school but as far as getting to work after I grad lmfao. Company's laughed in my face caus they didn't even know who I had certifications from. So one month after getting all my stuff done I had to pay a few hundred bucks just to get a job in Florida. Something they don't tell there students until it's to late!! Loved my time at Fortis, love the friends I made but all in all it wasn't worth the money I have to pay back. Sorry"
"Fortis College is a wonderful place to get started preparing for your new career. You will not find a more dedicated and caring faculty in staff."
