About Us

Dupree School, located in Ashford, Alabama, is a historic one-room schoolhouse that was built in 1904. It served as an educational institution for children in grades one through six until the late 1940s or early 1950s. The schoolhouse features a large classroom that can be divided into two rooms, and it has a traditional rural design with wood clapboard siding. Over the years, the building has been used for various community events and activities, but it has suffered damage from natural disasters and vandalism.
In 2021, the Friends of Dupree School organization was formed to preserve and save the historic school. They are currently accepting donations and seeking volunteers to help with the preservation project. Visitors can explore the history and progress of the preservation efforts through a tour of the school and can also support the cause by purchasing a limited edition ornament featuring an image of the Historic Dupree School.
Thank you for visiting Dupree School and for your interest in preserving this important piece of American history.
