Reviews of Ivy Preparatory Academy at Kirkwood
"This will be the most honest post you will read. First let me say the idea of the school is great. The sisterhood and self awareness they teach is a1. However their scores academically are average, not my opinion, a quick google search will say it. I suspect that this is because they let students teach each other ( blind leading the blind). A the teacher my daughter has had does not supervise this at all. The school has alot of events for students, which means you have to have your money right, literally every few weeks, you’re going to spend something. Which is hard to do because after school is always being canceled meaning. Your going to miss hrs if not days of work. A lot of the teachers are great but a lot of them also probably shouldn’t be teaching with their attitude. The school is organized but they have things that slip through the cracks. Example they didn’t think about having long sleeve shirts for winter. The school might hate me for this but it’s my truth. I know you might wonder why my daughter still attends the school. We’ll simply it’s the sisterhood and the fact I believe in what Ivy can become"
"The girls are mean and the “SISTERHOOD” that they preach on does not exist. Constant fights. Rude teachers, they don’t care or address your issues & concerns when it comes to your child. This is the WORSE experience ever and the worse decision I could have made enrolling my child. Her grades have NEVER been this low, and she hated school which was a first. No ELA teacher 3.5 months, and no way of knowing much of anything for the 7th graders. I couldn’t wait to withdraw my child. Keep your children where they are at, they need to close this school down. I was warned and they were right."
"My daughter attends Ivy, and I couldn't be happier. We will not be looking for any school anytime soon. Brown kids are treated with love and respect. The teachers are patient and caring. They communicate well. We, as a parent, got it our part. I’d be more involved with the kids if the teacher met us halfway."
"Teachers be on the phone not teaching kids, teachers are sleeping while teaching class in don't let kids eat.. My child came home saying her book bag have to be outside. There is nothing good there I'm taking my child out of there .They just want money for there self not the school if they wanted money for the school they would have a gym by now . They say kids can't have dry or anything in there hair but why hair and shoes matter so much ? Ms. Floyd breath stink my child told me she was all in her face. Mr. Mccary the only one who can do good up there ! They put on a show in front of us parents and we go right for it but not anymore Ivy need to get close soon!"
"My daughter has attended here for 7 years after switching from a regular zoned school that did not support her needs. I will miss the family oriented environment once she leaves but I’m proud of the leader that Ivy has brought of her. She has really blossomed and we have Dr. Nichols, Mrs. Merideth and her teachers to thank for that."
