"Chamblee Middle School being labeled as awful is the the correct label. As a fellow Kittredge student our expectations were raised very high. The Kittredge is not a perfect school matter of fact no school is perfect but Kittredge is an excellent academic school and has taught me many things. The staff at chamblee is certainly not the greatest and may never be. But there are few very good teachers, and it is not fair to them to be apart of a terrible staff because most of the staff is awful. I will shout those few amazing teachers out. Mr. Donegan being the first. He has a very intriguing personality and has a old school type of teaching style. Although this may seem boring he adds very interesting twist to his classes that makes simply taking down notes feel like your actually apart of the event that you are talking about and he makes you feel as if you already know the information and his methods help his classes as a whole and not just individually. Mr. Donegan also organizes the Chamblee Boys Baseball Team. Coach Terry being the second. Coach Terry is not just a coach but is a mentor. I have seen him literally turn the fiercest beast that doesn’t abide any rules to a good kid who does his work and follows the rules. I praise him for that because not many can do what he does. His teachings methods are very interactive which is as suspected of a physical education teacher. Unlike most if not all P.E teachers, Coach Terry actually lets his students participate and have fun doing their activities. He explains the activity and keeps it pushing, he doesn’t waste our time explaining things his students already know. Coach Terry also organizes the Chamblee Boys Basketball Team. Ms. Cheffens is the third teacher. Ms. Cheffens is in her first year teaching at Chamblee and has already made a big impact. In her first year she’s had already made a club for young women to express their mind and for young women to learn lady like material. She also is a very real person that will tell you what you need to improve on. Her teaching style doesn’t really have base, because it is very interactive while also having you do things on your own while also taking notes verbatim. Back to the downsides of Chamblee Middle School. I have a friend who had a can of pomade and got it taken for being disrespectful and never got it back. I am a primary resource and according to law he didn’t do anything which required the action of his pomade being taken. The teacher asked him to come here, he went. She then asked him what was that, he responded Pomade and she’s says to put it away. As he is walking back to his position and putting it away she automatically says come here again and snatches it from him. That teacher had no right to snatch it from that poor boy and even if she didn’t have the right she could’ve nicely asked for it and him being the respectful young man he is would’ve gave it to her or politely said no. Since he has the right to do so as it is his property. Don’t even get me started on the bathrooms. Oh my, it is god awful. The so called “sinks” are unsanitary water dispensers that spit out water out of small holes that then a baseball field shape metal piece catches and takes the water wherever the system takes it. Another major complaint is the cafeteria, like why is the food provided by the county or whoever so bad. I honestly feel bad for the less fortunate students who have to eat that. There are rare days where they serve decent meals. Even then the meals have horrible combos. They offer milk with Hamburgers, like what. And why is water so expensive, matter of fact why not free. Why are the lockers so bad. In the first month and a couple of days of school around 15 lockers have been broken. Where are all of our parents funds and donations going. Teachers don’t get paid much so that’s not an excuse/reason. Honestly the only reason I would see you would want to take your child here is if your child got into the magnet program or had friends her other wise it’s just offering you an experience that will probably be your worst school."
"the building is dirty, trashy, and poorly kept. drugs are rampant, the administrators only care about public image and don't help kids at all. Multiple kids get bullied daily and resort to self harm and the school has no measures against it."
"A lot better than Henderson (I’ve gone to both), but students have no time to really talk to each other in the hallways because of the administrators CONSTANTLY yelling the time and to “Hurry up!”. Students are a lot smarter at this school and better education overall. I gave 3 stars because there’s no limit to the amount of homework that is given and it’s honestly so stressful."
"the chamblee middle school i know, was the best and i enjoyed it for the most part. There were a few drama issues and sixth graders will be sixth graders, what do u expect!!! The high school is much better kids are more mature but what school doesn't have problems tbh? At the high school it's more freedom but middle school is just a bad experience in general you will survive!!!!!"
"Some of the worst teachers, but also some of the best. They covered up a sex scandal, drugs, and fighting. They handle CERTAIN things nicely when it comes to student complaints but others they dismiss horribly. It's alright, you're kids may enjoy it but expect rants and much stress (especially in 8th grade.) Busses are frequently late and the food is mediocre AT BEST. The diversity nice. 3/5"
