Reviews of Sequoyah High School
"This is a great school. Administration/Teachers work well with students & parents."
"this school sucks its dirty all the time there is roaches every where teachers dont work with the students even the assistant principal dont filled with a lot of racism dont go to this school if you're black im saving you from all the bullies and ignorant people that goes to this school"
"Justice 0/10 Teachers 2/10 (Some dont even seem qualified to teach) overall 1/10 (it has its moments) Invest in private school."
"Great school, academically challenging with many programs designed to involve students in the community. I have two sons there and they are both thriving because of these things. My younger one, specifically, went from incomplete across the board at a MI school to passing grades in every class."
"Disclaimer: Each high school "experience" is contingent upon the quality and dynamic of a person's social circles and heavily relies on personal opinion; so I will try to keep my opinion of Sequoyah's student body from affecting the factuality of my review as a whole. Overall, Sequoyah is a decent well rounded school. As a student, you have plenty of opportunities to get involved and stay active. The teachers here are fairly adept; although some are better than others, overall the teachers here are pleasant bunch. Based on word of mouth and second hand experience, there are more or less than about a dozen teachers out of Sequoyah that are sub par (sub par as a loose term meaning unfair in grading, poor teaching, unpleasant personality etc). The rest are usually good at what they do, devoted to helping students and have pleasant personalities. Bonuses: The wide selection of books in the library, and fairly fast, up-to-date computers. Friendly administration staff as well as a helpful students services and attendance office. Guidance Counselors are extremely helpful with planning for SAT/ACT, college, etc (personally, I wish I had made an appointment with mine earlier in the year because of all the useful information I missed out on.) Negatives: The detention policy here makes no sense: All detentions are scheduled in the morning BEFORE school and if you cannot make it because you don't have a ride (most people ride the bus) then you must attend Saturday school. Teachers enforcing the dress code inconsistently and unfairly Finally for the student body, I would personal say it has been a good experience for me. However, I am an outgoing person who has no trouble making friends or fitting in. For someone else who is shy or lacks social skills, then this might not be the case. But for the most part, the student body as a whole is open and friendly. I have yet to experience a general atmosphere of stuck-up attitudes, racism, sexism, or homophobia. Bullying is not very common either. The majority of people here are your typical southern Christians, but discrimination against other religious groups is not very common. On individual accounts there may be some very bad/good experiences here or there, but Sequoyah, as a whole, is not a dream school or a tortuous dungeon. Its just a good place to get an education, which is what a school is meant for."
