"This is my first year teaching engineering here at McEachern. I see a variety of opinions and experiences which you will find in any job or educational facility. As often said, "you get what you put into it" and it holds true to McEachern HS as much as any other place. You will not find another campus as beautiful and that offers as many opportunities for students in the area. I have found the students and staff welcoming. Its true that some students are more challenging than others but we all have a story to tell and am sure that some of these kids have some challenges of their own to overcome outside the school environment. Students know that there are staff and counselors who can direct you and help you and care greatly for our students. If you need help....ASK! Parents, please know that I am willing to assist you if I can, and if not, will try to pass you to someone who can. Students, high school is the time for you to start advocating and taking charge of your own learning. It is a time when are getting to the age where YOU are responsible for your own learning. Teachers are no longer the sole-source of knowledge for Google knows much more than any teacher on campus. It is the teachers job to guide you and help you learn for yourself those things you feel most important to your future. Ultimately the old adage applies "You can lead a horse to water but you cant make them drink" We will guide you to the knowledge but it is your responsibility to drink it in and prepare yourself to be successful in your future. I hope to see many of you in my classroom and learning laboratory. Engineering is a respectable and profitable career with lots of job satisfaction. Many students are frightened off by the math and science prerequisites but it you are open and willing to accept the challenge, I will be there for you to support you and help you achieve your goals. Good Luck and I hope to see you there! Go Indians !!!"
"I am a parent of a stellar African American daughter at McEachern. I have seen and heard a lot of negative comments about this school. My mother is an educator and had always told me you are only going to get out what you put in to any school. That being said our experience at McEachern has been awesome. I actually have a 10th grader and a Senior enrolled and they are both excelling at an AP level there. So with that said parents if you do your job a lot of the negative things you have read about this school will not apply to you. Also I have seen the same Bullying incidents at other surrounding schools such as Harrison, Kennesaw Mountain, North Cobb, and even the beloved Hillgrove . They all have issues as well. This is just my 2 cents on our experience at this school take it for what it's worth."
"My DeKalb county high school would get trounced by these guys in wresting and football back in the mid 90's. I always knew it was a good school. Now my son goes and here and the experience has been great. Wonderful campus with teachers that have pride. The Sports teams are still pretty good too."
"I graduated from McEachern High School, class of 1984 and it was about the Football Team and the kids who came from money. It was about the kids that were A students. The teachers and administrators were bullies then, doesn't sound like much has changed. That's too bad. It looks like the campus has grown and changed a lot it looks beautiful. Its too bad its not a welcoming environment for all kids to learn."
"So far so good! My son just transferred from a Christian school to McEachern the middle of September 2016. I've been impressed with his counselor, teachers, coaches, and even the front office staff. My emails are always answered and my request for appointments are always accepted. I am a firm believer that parent involvement is the key no matter what school your child attends! Happy Parent!"
