"Just about everything about this school is great! The teachers are amazing, they handle the kids and communicate with the parents very well. Our kids love it there. The only real issue we have is the drop off in the morning. We have other kids to drop off at the high school and middle school so we get to the Charter school about 7:40 to 7:45 every school day. Most of the time we are in a long line out on the road, Old 85. Sometimes we make it through there drop off line on time but there are days we do not. It is so stressful! At one point we started to park and walk our kids in and that was great for us. For some reason they stopped this by using the Police Dept. The message we received is it is unsafe. So, we as parents can not be trusted to walk our kids to the building? I am pretty sure if we can keep them safe everywhere else, we can surely do so at the school. Would it be more productive to use the Police dept to help keep parents and kids who are walking up to the school safe, instead of the police yelling at people over their speaker. Then to top it off when you go to sign your kids in the ladies behind the glass are not very nice. They will not even open the doors for the students to go in until they are signed in by the parents. I get it we are late, so let’s keep the kids out of class while we wait in these long lines to sign them in, today the line was out the door. None of this really makes since but I guess they are the boss and have the attitude it is either their way or no way. I guess mine will just have to be late"
"My son was told by another student, that was his friend, that their teacher, Ms.Krull, told her to “stay away from my son because he is racist.” I called the school spoke with the principal, Ms. Ellison, and was told she would “investigate” I had to reach back out to her twice to see what was going on with the investigation, and was informed the second time that there was not “enough” evidence against the teacher to do anything. I was also informed that her nor I was present during this altercation and that it was all secondhand information. In my experience when people are doing and behaving poorly they don’t tend to do it in front of others. Ms.Ellison cares more about keeping and protecting teachers then the well-being of the students that are in her care during the school day. She also goes on to tell me that my son has been “removed from the environment“ like he was the problem. I requested him to be removed from this bullies classroom. This is not my first issue with a teacher or the principal at this school."
"I love this school. My child has excelled since we enrolled him in CCAS from the regular public school. The teachers are happy and want to teach and it shows in the energy that they put into working with all the children. Band, PE, field trips and lots of extra activities to participate in are option also."
"My son has been at CCA since he was in Kindergarten (currently in 4th). We have had a great experience, especially the last few years. The staff is great and the school has a great after school club program. It was a great choice for our family, and would recommend the school to friends and family."
"I suggest Lee, poplar, or East side. The teachers are nice but a very high amount are racist. I have no clue if their ways have changed, but the food there is not good, and I would suggest sending a lunch then buying, it’s a waste of money. The advanced/gifted classes are almost no different from regular, the classes just seem to cut more off. The ELA system is terrible, I got almost no help throughout my elementary years. I went to my new school and was way behind, I almost failed my classes last year. I suggest putting your child into another system, and if you decide to stay, I suggest you put them into websites like IXL, or give them work from any other notebooks than wonders. Wonders notebooks didn’t help me during any of my school"
