Reviews of Tallahassee Outpatient Surgery Center
"My husband had surgery in early September. No problems with the surgery and the staff was excellent, but the billing department is horrendous. We had to pay the full deductible, nearly $2,500, before the surgery, but they were the last to file a claim. It took more than 3 months for the funds to be returned. When finally did, instead of returning it ro the card it was charged on, they cut a check, further delaying the return of funds to our HSA. Meanwhile, we still had to pay the full deductible amount between the providers who billed promptly."
"How do you call someone a day before a scheduled surgery and say they can't do it because of your BMI. You had my paperwork for over a month. You knew that then. I made plans for care and logistics, now I have to cancel and mover everything around again. Inconsiderate. Just like ya'll have time don't waste other folks time. Do better with communication. You schedule procedures for a reason."
"I've had surgery at this facility twice and the medical staff is always top notch. My issue is with the billing/insurance department. Each time I've had surgery here, I was told to bring a certain amount for my co-insurance on the day of surgery only to be billed excessively more after the fact. The first time this happened, I was told it was because they had a new employee and she "made a mistake." I ended up not paying that bill. The second time, the final bill came in at almost three times what the original amount was quoted. When I asked about this, I was told that while they knew I was having multiple procedures under three separate insurance codes, they only calculate the co-insurance on one of them to "prevent the patient from being surprised about the amount the day before surgery." I find this absurd. It is much better to know up front than to have a surprise bill for almost three times the amount you were expecting. My advice is, find someplace else to have your surgery!"
"Was called the night before surgery and told to bring in $3000.00 or not show up. When I ask about a payment plan was told $1900.00 now I don't know anyone who has made there deductible on January the 3rd but to be turned away like that just blew me away. Be for warned"
"Well today I was informed that I am banned for live from this Surgery Center. I was there last week to have surgery done on my hand and my shoulder. By one of the leading Orthopedic Surgeons in the area. Which now I can have do my surgery due to this banned. I had a PANIC ATTACK when being moved from the gurney to the OR bed. The centers personal flipped out said I was having a HEART ATTACK and rushed me to the TMH. Stayed there for 6 hrs. to confirm I was not having a Heart Attack. Also, the nurses there where told that you cant get a good BP from the top of my arms like most people with the type machines they use after 4 tries they finally listened to me and used the lower part of my arm . Wonders of wonders they got a BP. Also, told them not to use my hand for the IV. They did anyway. Took me three days to get the swelling down and a week later the bruising is still very visible. They still have not refunded my 190.00 co pay as promised since I did not have surgery."
