"I want to give some kudos to Dr. Doug Brooks and his business Men’s Health of Parkersburg. Dr. Brooks was my physician at WVU Medicine. I was very happy with the level of care, his knowledge of modern medicine and knew he was very competent in his craft. When he left to start MHOP, he explained to me the standard of care and payment was different. It had an annual fee arrangement, a concierge type of service, I was interested and because I was 100% pleased with his care, I joined up. Here is how it works if you don't understand it, a true story. Last Friday evening around 7:30 PM I had a situation that wasn't quite an emergency but may have been an emergency. Either way, I needed a quick medical opinion as I was going out of town on a two day golf trip at 7:00 AM Saturday. I’m not going into details about what I needed answered but it was something that if I didn't get an answer I was going to the dreaded ER (no reflection on the ER’s, but I know they are overwhelmed). Dr. Brooks supplied me with his personal cell number and said he was available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Although it was Friday evening I was hesitant to call but really needed an answer. I texted him what was going on and he immediately texted me back with some follow up questions. He then said he wanted to confer with a specialist to get his opinion so he can give me clear directions. So at 7:45 PM Dr. Brooks calls a specialist on my behalf...think about this for a minute. I have a Dr. that I can text that then calls another Dr. to get a second opinion. I mean who offers that service! He let me know what to do and watch for and of course if it didn't work I was going to have to go to the emergency room. With what I had going on I’m sure I would have be triaged low and may have been there four to six hours. YIKES! What I was directed to do worked and I felt assured that I had the best care possible. It was well worth his annual fee to me not to spend four to six hours in a ER with the Rona infected outbreak, injured/sick people and the normal assortment of addicts faking injuries. Plus how much money I would have had to spent on deductibles and fees for the ER visit would have probably been substantial. So, well done Dr. Doug Brooks, you saved me from suffering, going to the ER and canceling a trip that affected others. He also checked up on me while I was gone to make sure I was doing better. I’ve been at MHOP two other times, what was my bill? ZERO. Try it, its a different level of service."
