Reviews of Emory Ambulatory Surgery Center
"Absolutely horrible experience. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy at 6:30 a.m. At 7:30 a.m. the doctor I was scheduled for informed me he doesn't do colonoscopys. The front desk said the head nurse would be in at 8 a.m. to see if they could fit me in. At 9:30 a.m. I still had no definite answer. At 10 a.m. I asked to speak to the head nurse. At 10:30 she finally talked to me and said I could be seen at noon. I spent the entire day before doing the prep. Got up at 3 a.m. to finish the prep. Left home at 5 a.m. to get there on time. Misscheduled appointment. Horrible communication. Bad customer service. If I'm late or miss the appointment they would charge me, but this is acceptable?"
"I received outstanding care both pre and post surgery. Wonderful anesthesiology team who took great care in explaining what was going to be done to ensure I would not experience pain. Nursing care was outstanding and compassionate"
"Kudos to the front desk staff! I sat in the waiting room for about 1 1/2 hours waiting on my husband, who was having a procedure done. I got to hear over and over again how the ladies handled each patient with grace, patience and professionalism. The number of folks who decide to be rude first thing in the morning is astonishing. Well done ladies for keeping your cool!"
"Nursing front desk staff were quite good. However, there were errors made on the part of the facility both the day prior and day of my procedure as to what procedure prep I had been sent and would have followed, and when the the procedure failed, was subjected to extremely unprofessional behavior on the part of the endoscopist, Dr. Massaad. Further, Emory’s procedure for outpatient procedures specifically colonoscopies is abysmal—tantamount to an assembly line where you are simply assigned a GI doc w/o any prior consult."
"This is the absolute worst place to have a colonoscopy or EDG. The front desk staff is rude. My wife and I took eight hours off work and I endured 36 hours of great fun with the bowel prep. I have service dog, professionally trained European Boxer. He was prescribed by my Emory PCP. I was assured the Gen. Patton, my service dog, and my wife would be able to go back after my procedure because of the massive amount of anxiety coming out of anaesthesia. Upon arrival, one and a half hours away, I was told the service animal could not come back. I have been to Emory midtown and Emory University for surgical procedures where my service dog was allowed in pre-op and PACU. Instead of practicing professional communication the director of the clinic came out into the waiting room with other patients around me to explain to me the risk of having a service animal in a non-sterile pre-op environment. She stated that if someone is allergic to a dog they may have complications after surgery. Why is it that mental health is never quiet as important as physical health. My wife has been a critical care nurse for 29 years anaphylaxis shock is one of the easiest things to treat. So the excuse that the lady has given was not realistic. Upon further research in peer reviewed journals it was noted that reaction to a service dog in a post-op environment was less than 05%. I will never use this memory facility ever again and I will never recommend this facility to anybody else who desires a quality environment where privacy and medical care are respected."
