"I will try to make a long story short - on Sunday, November 26th, my son, who is a student at Auburn, had to go to the Emergency Room at the Callahan Eye Hospital in in Birmingham. He was treated, given eye drops he was to put in every hour he was awake and told he must have a have a follow up on Tuesday to make sure everything was as it should be. We were given an office to call for said follow up. The severity of the situation was scary. As he is a student at Auburn I, as his mother, called to get said appointment. I was told they had nothing available and given another office to call. I called numerous offices to no avail – they had no appointments! I called UAB to get an appointment – they could see him on Friday! It was terrible! No one seemed to care or feel any urgency of the situation!!!! I was referred by an office in Opelika (they were booked until April) to Basden Eye Care. They took my call, listened to my panic, put me on hold for a minute and came back to say “Dr. Pate can see him tomorrow at 10:00”. They were my hero – I had spent all day begging for someone to see him! It was five minutes from his apartment- perfect. He called me on Tuesday to say that Dr. Pate was great as well as everyone in the office. Everyone was so nice! I am not sure if it is true or not but in my eyes you saved my son’s vision! I will forever be grateful for what you did. Thank you! He will be back after the first of the year for an exam, new glasses and contacts! Thank you again!"
