"Hands down! The best seafood in town. I have no complaints. Taste, price and quality are always on point!"
"What an amazing experience. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great priced, delicious experience!!!!"
"This was a good sandwich! I ate a piece of hot fried catfish sandwiched between two slices of wheat bread with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese and a side of crispy fries. I added hot sauce and tartar sauce to my sandwich. The only thing lacking was seasoning on the fries, but now I know to add some to them next time. Not bad for less than $7."
"I visited this black owned establishment on Thursday, September 29, 2022. It is located at the Sweet Auburn Municipal Market. Upon arrival to the Municipal Market, I received a parking ticket and entered the parking lot. I parked in one of the available spaces and went inside the market. Keep in mind, the market does have parking validation stations inside. Here you can validate your ticket for one hour of free parking. After that one hour, you do have to pay for parking depending on what your balance is. Upon entry to the Municipal Market, I made my way to Tilapia Express. When I reached the counter, there wasn’t really anyone in line. They do have all of their specials posted on a board above head. None of the items that were in the containers in the glass display case looked appetizing at all. It appeared they had some baked fish and several side items, which I definitely did not want to get. There was a young man that came to the counter and took my order. I ordered the following menu items: 2 piece Fried catfish, Coleslaw, and Fries. This combo was about nine dollars and some change and didn’t even come with a drink. I can tell this establishment nickels and dimes customers for every little thing that you order. It reminded me definitely of how the Asian community runs their food establishments. Even extra sauces costs extra money. It does appear that they also serve breakfast here from 8 to 10:30 Am in the morning. They also had a variety of seafood combinations. From reading previous reviews, it seems that their shrimp combination meals may be the best items on the menu. After I ordered my food and purchased, a young man stated it would take about 10 minutes for my food to be ready. He gave me a receipt with a number which would be called when the order was ready. It does appear that they also have a 91 health score which is fairly decent, but definitely could be better. I do feel that this is one of the Municipal Market’s staple establishments. A lot of people come here on their lunch breaks to order food items. I observed even people that work at the Municipal Market ordering fish salads from this establishment as well. I did see an older gentleman come out from the back of the kitchen. I do believe this is a family owned restaurant. Once my order was ready, my number was called and my food was given to me. They do provide tartar sauce and hot sauce, but as I stated extras do cost extra money. Once I found a seat to enjoy my lunch, I opened the container and realized that they do not put the coleslaw in a separate container. With this being said, the coleslaw was kind of warm because they planted the fish and fries right on top of it. Once I began to eat my meal, I noticed that the fish was not really crispy. This means it probably had been fried way before this and was served to me after sitting under a warmer for a while. It really didn’t have any type of crispy texture although it was seasoned well. The fries however I could tell were fresh because they were crispy, hot, and pretty good. I was pretty disappointed with the fish because I know that it wasn’t fresh. I feel considering I paid almost $10 for this meal, they should’ve fried me some fresh fish so that I could enjoy it on my lunch break. The coleslaw was your typical basic coleslaw. I definitely didn’t feel that this meal was worth what I paid for it. I feel I could’ve gotten a better plate from Captain D’s. I felt the customer service was pretty average as well. It wasn’t anything great or spectacular. I do think that establishments like these tend to cater to or play up their service to regular customers. Despite this, the best part of the meal was the fries. This is only because they were fresh and crispy. I did make myself eat most of the meal since I paid for it and I was hungry. I feel there are much better food stalls in the Municipal Market such as Philly G’s for sure. I will not be returning to this establishment because they don’t serve fresh food to their customers. I don’t recommend it since there are better food stalls here."
