"Amazing service, good whiskey, and quality meat. The single dining room made a work dinner a little tough, but given our crew I'm sure we were likely the source of most of the noise."
"With the most respect I can give, I’m not sure why this restaurant is rated so highly. I had to wait 20 minutes when I had reservations only to be seated at the worse table in the restaurant (right in front of the door and way too close to the tables next to you). I wouldn’t normally mind this but it was 40 degrees outside, and there was no waiting area available inside since the place is so tiny and dining tables are right at the door. The food was fine at best. We also waited 45 minutes for our entree after getting the appetizer. The grilled oysters were nothing special and should have had parm on top. The fish dip was the best part of the meal and was a great portion size. The ribeye was not up to par. A dry aged steak should NOT need steak sauce. It was also under seasoned and needed lots of salt. The sides were also lacking flavor. Left disappointed and down $157 before tip for 2 people. With that being said, I have and will continue to pay that for a quality meal, this just wasn’t that. Service was okay. Felt like the servers and hosts seemed frantic."
"We've eaten here several times over the last 10 years, but this was our most disappointing experience by far. The food was okay, but our evening was ruined when the hostess (or owner) gave away our reserved booth when we were 9 minutes late. Nine minutes. I might have understood this except: a.) we called early and advised the hostess we would be 10 minutes late and, b.) we were told this was fine- 15 minutes is the grace period and the reservation would be held. When we arrived, however, we were shown to the "time out" punishment table by the front door instead of our reserved booth. This is a miserable seating location since it is in the path of everyone coming and going and is extremely drafty (especially in 40 degree weather). We reserved a booth specifically because we knew how unpleasant those two front tables are- but, alas, retribution for our tardiness was apparently unavoidable. To add insult to injury, we were treated rudely when asked that our reservation be honored. They acquiesced (somewhat reluctantly), but we still had to wait another 20 minutes for someone else to leave and open a booth. In short, we drive through Tallahassee traffic to eat at a restaurant like this (45 minutes from our home) to relax, not to be stressed. At $150 a meal, we think you deserve customer service that doesn't treat you like you're six. Needless to say, we're not going back and will advise others to go somewhere else."
"Great place to eat! Oysters 3 ways, delicious. Smoked whitefish starter was incredible. Had the Mahi and grilled Caesar also. Both were delicious! Our server was attentive at times and lost at other times. Menu selection was decent. Loved the decor"
"This was a girl's trip to try a new local place. It was for us, and we tried a little of everything. For the most part, the food was delicious. We had reservations at 5, and the restaurant opened promptly at 5. We were seated, and drink orders were taken. Our server was John. I ordered a martini; Cherry Lavender. One of the other ladies ordered a Prickly Pear Magarita. They were both tasty! For appetizers, we had duck tacos (they were a little on the dry side), Rockefeller Oysters, Fried Oysters, and Onion Rings. All of which were appetizing!! For our main entrée there was trout over a bed of rice (which was the special of the day). Two people ordered the Chop Burger, and they were disappointed steak fries as advertised was not served with the burger. I ordered the dry aged ribeye. The first one came out overcooked, but the manager Ryan made sure I was happy and had another one prepared for me, which was absolutely AMAZING! It was served with "corn cake" and creamed corn. The corn cake was delicious. Made me crave more. I was the only one who ordered a dessert. I had the pecan pie with a scoop of vanilla I've cream. The pie had a nice flavor, but not enough filling and too many pecans( and I love pecans). I gave the atmosphere a 3 because the building had an old smell to it and the tables were a little sticky and small. I will be back to try the Chop Burger. Give this place a try. Hidden gem with nice service. Reservations are required. Bon Appétit!"
