Reviews of TWO urban licks
"I visited TWO urban licks the night before last for a belated birthday celebration and definitely enjoyed myself. It was a little busy, but the ambience was lovely, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had live music. I started off with a cocktail that was a take on an old fashioned with smoked apple infused bourbon. It was alright, however I do see that it’s not on the menu today. The next drink that I had was the Let It Linger which was a lemon infused bourbon with simple syrup. Delicious and strong! I had two. For my appetizer I had the Brisket Empanada (yes, a single empanada) which was very tasty. I will say that the majority of the flavor seemed to come from the chipotle crema, pico de gallo, & feta. For my entree I had the cider braised pork shank. The pork was tender, and to the point of falling off the bone. Flavor might’ve been lacking a bit though. The real star of the plate were the brussels! *chefs kiss* Also could’ve used more butternut squash purée. For dessert, we ordered the warm upside down pineapple cake, and white chocolate crème brûlée, but they also brought out a little cupcake in honor of my birthday which was a nice surprise. It also came with a card that was signed by all of the staff, which was also a nice touch. The pineapple, upside down cake was dry, and the only thing a White chocolatey about the crème brûlée were the pieces on top. Otherwise it was just your average crème brûlée. The birthday cake was also fine. Overall, I’d say that you’re coming here for the experience. The food is decent/good but not m someplace that I will add to my list of favorite spots."
"Enjoyed every bite! Duck 2 ways was super delicious, and the beef shank. Great date night spot, and they have a live band some evenings as well."
"The atmosphere is very laid back from the moment you walk into the cathedral high doors to the bar being centrally located in the restaurant. You may enjoy the open environment, but it may not be the best situation for a conversation, especially if you are on a date. I heard the entire conversation that the couple next to us was having, which was comical at times as I am not sure I would go that route if I wanted to impress my female companion. Okie dokie...enough of the atmosphere and let's get down to the food. The food was fresh, innovative, and brought out relatively quickly. Our waitress was exceptional as she answered every question we had and gave us reasonable recommendations as this was our first time here. We tried a great representation of their current menu, and the taste, seasoning, and presentation were outstanding. The time flew as we enjoyed the food and our own conversation as the night went on and the ambient noise came down a bit as we were not as close to the bar where a lot of the conversations were coming from. At the end, they even brought out a birthday dessert, which was also very tasty. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for great food and an excellent downtown environment with high end expectations."
"Great atmosphere inside - interior design on point. However from outside - especially where valet is, the entrance looks like an abandoned warehouse… Food was good. But definitely not the best shrimp and grits flavor. Salmon chips were really good though. I like that you can pay through QR code of the table - but why can’t I order the same way?"
