"Dr. Akins is the first family physician or provider that didn't walk into the exam room with an agenda already designed to push whatever trending drug the pharmaceutical reps are saying is trending at the moment in an attempt to design that provider's health care being given around whats best for theirs & Big Pharma's bottom line, And not what's best for the patient. He is the first physician I've ever been seen by that i feel has actually listened to me about my concerns pertaining to my current health. He doesn't hurry me up and make me feel like i'm just a insurance group number & ID number, Nor does he make my family feel like he is milking our premium insurance. His office staff are always pleasant, polite, prompt & professional as far as taking co-pays, scheduling referrals for testing or lab work, medication refills & any other general patient/provider communication. Moving to Teays Valley area from Jackson County area has been such a blessing to our family, our whole lives we had been conditioned to receive Sub - Par Health Care by from our previous community's health care system, I actually got a little emotional after my first visit with Dr. Akins because I had never received actual professional health care before. We are actually on less meds than we have in our whole adult lives & we couldnt be more thankful to everyone at his practice. Top to Bottom they are all well above par. "A doctor that will actually listen and talk to you? They still make those? Yup. I'm 40 years old and have had a lot of family doctors in the various places I've lived. Doctor Akins is the best one I've ever had, and it's not even close. The only thing that could improve my visits here would be a live band or a Taco bar. Beyond that, keep doing what you do."
