Comfort Inn Wytheville - Fort Chiswell

"We stayed at Comfort Inn Wytheville - Fort Chiswell (VA335) The Pros: - The staff was mostly friendly and attempted to be accommodating - Close to I-77 and easy to find The Cons: We arrived around 9:30pm to check in. We were offered to upgrade from a 2 queen room to a king room for the same price, so we took it (it seems likely now that they just didn't have our booked room to give us). We were then given keys to a room that had not been cleaned from the previous occupant. So we headed back downstairs. There were a ton of people checking in so after waiting forever, around 10:15 we were given keys to a new room. This room was 80° and the AC unit would shut off any time the thermostat reached 77°. We called the front desk and someone was sent up (though we waited almost an hour for this to happen) who first acted like we just didn't know how to use an air conditioner and then when it shut off in front of him several times told us there were no more rooms we could have and that it had worked fine for the people the previous night. When I suggested we just keep going and find somewhere else, suddenly there was a cancellation and we got keys to yet a 3rd room. This room the air conditioner worked, however it sounded like a lawnmower every time it came on and smelled like death (probably due to being filled with dirt and dead bugs from what little I could see with my cell phone flash light). Practically every fabric in the room except the bedsheets/towels were dirty and stained (curtains,.shower curtain, carpet, etc), the darkening curtains were sticky, the bottom of the tub was slimy and obviously hadn't been cleaned properly. At that point it was midnight and we were exhausted so we decided to tough it out. But I can say without a doubt I would have gotten a better night's rest of we'd slept in the car."

"My husband and I experienced truck problems during our drive half way across the US, we pulled into the nearest pet friendly hotel which unfortunately happened to be this one and after this stay.. I would have rather roughed it out sleeping in the truck. As I walked into the room I sat our stuff down and immediately had to use the bathroom since we’d been on the road for awhile, when I say I’ve been to truck stop showers&bathrooms nicer then this I’m not exaggerating… As a former housekeeper I truly understand you are crunched on time however coming into the bathroom and seeing toothpaste splatters on the mirror and faucet along with gunk around the edges of the sink, old pee spots all over the toilet on both sides of the lid.. plus pink mold around the lid and they didn’t even scrub the inside of the toilet and then to find they didn’t even wipe out the shower as well, I shouldn’t have been shocked at this point to find hair and the shower curtain was absolutely disgusting and stained yellow on the bottom. After this I had to inspect the rest of the room, there was a weird orange supstance in our fridge, the shear curtains over the rooms AC unit were dirty and brown towards the bottom and there was a weird white substance that got on my hands anytime I accidentally touched the room darking curtains. With us not being able to travel safely anywhere else we were stuck here.. I didn’t walk I ran to the gas station next door for cleaning products and asked the front desk for cleaning gloves because I couldn’t find them at the gas station. When she handed them to me I told her I needed to reclean the bathroom because there was pee all over the toilet when we checked in last night.. she said “oh” and continued to just walk back to her desk.. These people clearly don’t care about cleanliness and quality of their work. Will NEVER go back to this chain again, extremely disappointed."

"Did a last minute reservation with my dog. They were very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were very clean and didn’t smell at all even though it was a dog friendly hotel. Upstairs was a little loud but that’s nothing they could do to help. Continental breakfast was wonderful in the morning."

"We had a great stay! Our room was super clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great! It was definitely a great value for the price we paid. We will stay here again!"

"I checked price online and it was $76, got there and it was over $100. Got in late, room was humid so I set the AC and went to sleep. Woke up and papers on my desk were damp, stainless steel travel mug was sweating and walking from carpet to bathroom floor you could see my footprints. Told them at front desk, and the responded something about they just cleaned the carpets and sorry... potential to be a great stay if they were more mindful of their cleaning schedule. The AC could not keep up with the damp carpet in a hotel is just gross. If I had not gone right off to sleep I would have changed rooms in the middle of the night."
