"I have stayed in the nicer hotels in Atlanta, DC and New York City. The Edwin beats them hands down. The hotel is beautiful the food is excellent and the rooms have so much attention to detail and are well laid out. Someone put a great deal of thought in the design and layout. I would like to say mention someone was outstanding but I can’t they were all exceptional beginning with my first impression of Joe who welcomed me and took my keys and bags. Well done Edwin, well done."
"**Wedding at the Edwin Review** Other than the scenery and the ambiance I would not recommend having your wedding here. We were set up with false expectations from the Catering Sales Manager. General manager was rude and condescending once we discussed our experience, we felt unheard and misunderstood after everything and never felt like we received a genuine apology. There’s a whole list of things that went wrong but here are some: 1. Catering Sales Manager advised she would be there the day of to answer questions, coordinate, collect the cake/flowers anything needed the day of.. she was MIA all day until the ceremony. My cake lady tried getting ahold of her, but her phone went straight to voicemail. I called the front desk for help, they advised they would reach out to her and call me but never heard a peep. She told us many things that were inaccurate.. 2. Reception issues: We strictly advised we wanted appetizers passed out once family pictures were complete and main course to come out when bride/groom are done with pictures.. instead they passed out ALL the food before the reception even started. My own mother wasn’t even able to eat until later in the night because the food kept running out. We decided to do drink tickets one per person.. the conversation with the catering manager was, “It’s your responsibility to pass our drink tickets” but she failed to mention we had to create the tickets ourselves… when I talked to the general manager about this she said, “well why didn’t you follow up with her about making the tickets” well it never crossed my mind??? What place would make you “create” your own drink ticket when you’re spending over $8k to have your event there? The day of the wedding the catering manager actually argued with me about this.. after my wedding party told her to specifically not stress me out and tell me about the ticket and food situation, comes straight to me and says, “You were supposed to make the tickets oh and all the food has already been sent out but don’t worry there is enough food”. It’s hard for me to even believe they cooked enough food since some people didn’t even get any. The cake fee… we were told in person to cut the cake it was $5, we thought wow that is cheap sure.. we even made that comment. What they failed to tell us is that is it $5 PER PERSON TO CUT CAKE.. we spent $315 to cut the cake.. yet we have over half the cake left. All they offered us was 15% off the food for compensation.. which we paid over $1720.50 for. You also have only one hour to set up for decorations and then you have to clean up all your decorations by the end of your rental space. We would’ve reacted way different to all these things if we felt any type of understanding or apology but yet we feel discouraged and just left a bad taste in our mouth.. We are Chattanooga locals and we’ve always loved the Edwin hotel but we definitely will not be visiting after this experience."
"My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. I can gladly say that we had an excellent time at this hotel. It was located close to just about anything you could want to do. Two movie theaters, the aquarium, multiple restaurants within walking distance. The room was amazingly spacious and was well kept. The front house staff was very kind and always provided us with suggestions for things to do while we were in town. The only parking is with the valet ,which initially I believed I was being charged for but it appears that guests are not billed for the valet but that's not made clear. I didn't ask as I was on my honeymoon and was being looser with my wallet than I normally am. The roof top view was amazing as it over looks the Tennessee River. Their upstairs bar was quite nice though we only went there once. The hotel restaurant The White bird is outstanding and the staff do their absolute best to make you feel welcome. However as we stayed for a week we noticed some issues. The bathroom wasn't cleaned daily or at least not in a thorough way. The sheets were only changed once and that was because we stripped the bed and put them on the floor along with a note asking for the sheets to be changed. I've stayed at cheaper locations and had this done daily. Overall for the price of the room which I got a discount on for booking several months in advance was not outrageous, but I don't see myself spending $250 a night on average for the service we received."
"I’m a travel agent and I recently booked clients here. I’m also a local so I’m familiar with the Edwin and the surrounding area. It’s a gorgeous hotel in a perfect location. Please don’t let google confuse you, this is a 3 star hotel. The cheapest room here is 90% more than the best 4 star hotel. They only have 5 rooms with any kind of view and they are very expensive. My guests didn’t enjoy it for multiple reasons. I came in before they checked in to leave gift cards in an envelope to a nice restaurant for their anniversary and the front desk had to ask a manager if they needed to charge me to do this. My clients left an envelope for me when they checked out. I came in two days later and they couldn’t find it. It’s been two weeks now and they still can’t find it. My recommendation to you would be to find a dumpster close by and sleep there. The location and service would be equivalent to the Edwin hotel."
"Just stayed at the Edwin with our family on our drive back home from florida. Can’t say more great things about this hotel and worth the extra $ over other options. Lobby is amazing rooms are beautiful and clean. Joe the bellhop was extremely helpful as was any other staff we encountered. We are at white bird for dinner and it did not disappoint. Our server Daniel was wonderful, would recommend the shrimp and grits! It is a pet friendly hotel and we did have some issues with loud dogs in a room nearby that wasn’t ideal but upon checkout the staff was kind enough to apply a small credit again. Location also couldn’t be better to local attractions and restaurants all within walking distance. Would stay again!"
