"I HATE this school . People are rude and the instructors are a joke ! Most of the instructors are so rude and do not care about students at all. They respond to you rudely or don’t return emails. This school is so useless and unorganized . I wish I can transfer out of this school. If I could go back I would not have came here . You have no support and nursing students have to find their own clinical sites. On top of that, it’s mixed in with the homeless . I am afraid I’ll get mugged at times when walking around it does not feel safe. Just not a good school."
"School used to be respectable before the new president and board took over. The student population is thrown to the wolves (especially young women). The classes are filled with uninspired professors who are unorganized and disinterested. The administrative staff is rude, childish, combative and unhelpful. The President of GSU is a corporate shill who’s only interest is increasing revenues in ways that only harm the student population. The standards for admissions have dropped precipitously since the new President’s arrival which has bled into the more reckless environment we are seeing at Georgia state. Women are also getting fondled and harassed everyday now. Also the racist security gives preferential treatment to white students while bullying black students."
"The school is in good location but not having an actual campus means safety is an issue. They don’t employ enough security to protect the students. Someone was fatally wounded with gun shot very recently in the same block as many of the student housings. They should have 24/7 security in areas like that. GSU has plenty of money to employ police just for the housings. In terms of education, the professors are hit or miss. They don’t have many experienced professors especially in CSC. A lot of important classes got taught by PhD students who aren’t good at conveying the information to the students. As a result, you go into higher level classes with a weak foundation and have to learn a lot of materials from YouTube to keep up with the higher level classes. If you’re going to make 50-60k investment into your education, you shouldn’t have to rely on YouTube professors for your education. Advisors aren’t good at making decisions either. I made my class plan myself, but I always hear complaints from other students who were badly advised about the course plan and have to end up staying another semester for listening to incompetent advisors that either tell them the wrong class to take or tell them they’re ready to graduate when they are not."
"Literally the worst school I have ever been to. I'm working on a grade appeal right now because of an instructors mistake and that department has literally been of no help. The grade appeal process for that college is very biased against students. It has been a month of me going back and forth with the head of that department because they want a specific word in the grade appeal instead of looking at the facts and documents provide. I understand that there is a lot of other things that are important but this messes with my classes and money I am paying with and isn't fair to me or any other student who needs a grade appeal. If this process was a lot more helpful to me and my issues I won't be stressed right now because of fall classes. I definitely will not be returning to GSU after I finish my degree."
"Enjoyed my time here for graduate school. I live outside the city but getting to campus for classes wasn’t too bad. The faculty in the geosciences department are incredible and provided a great education. Campus can be a little sketchy at night but it’s normally full with people so I never felt unsafe."
