Reviews of Dukes Creek Falls Recreation Area
"Why haven't I hiked this trail sooner? It is a dog friendly, visually pleasing one mile trail to the falls. There are some steep steps that my pup hesitated on, but he got them figured out quickly. The waterfall is beautiful. I will be back in the fall."
"This is a nice hiking area with a well defined trail system. I especially like the waterfalls and stream. The restroom, while clean, is really just a giant sized portapotty. There is not a sink to wash up after taking care of things in there."
"I have hiked this trail with just my husband before and then this past weekend, we took our 3 kids. Their ages are 11, 9 and 5. It was very doable with even the 5 year old. It is about 2.2 miles round trip. Make sure to bring plenty of water especially during the summer! We also brought cooling towels. There is an area to get down to the water to play. Just be very careful getting down there and back up. Make sure to wear shoes with lots of tread. We all wore small hiking backpacks to carry our water, sandwiches for lunch and snacks in. Bring sun screen and bug spray too! It was definitely worth the hike and getting down in the water area. We played in the water for a couple hours."
"A beautiful spot to go walking! We caught the mountain laurel at full bloom. The walk is mostly shaded with the sound of the waterfall most of the time. Coming back there is a slight incline, but total distance is just over 2 miles. A perfectly doable walk!"
"An excellent park with a nice trail to a beautiful waterfall. The park had basic bathroom facilities (no running water). The fee was listed as $4 per day. There was ample parking and the lot was paved. There was a nice, shaded picnic area where we enjoyed lunch. The hike is 1 mile down to view the falls. The trail was wide enough that we often let our 4 year old walk. No rails except for a few steep spots. The viewing platform was only partially open as part is closed due to repairs but the part we went to was still nice. Only warning, the 1 mile trek back up hill is a hike if the kiddos fall asleep. Well worth the trek!"
