Reviews of White Oak Mountain/SAU Biology Trails
"Some of the trails overlap other trails and you need to use some trails to get to other trails. So we advise looking at the map by the restrooms if you are unfamiliar with these trails and maybe even taking a picture of the map with your phone to refer to later. There are markers periodically along the trails that also help as landmarks."
"It’s a really good training ground for tougher trails I do recommend you where pads on the black trails though If you’re not used to them. I have taken a few spills on them before but other than that it’s a really good trail. I highly recommend it for beginners who are used to blue trails and pros who are wanting to train and have fun."
"Amazing trails for hikers, walkers, trail runners and mountain bikers! Miles of beginner, intermediate, advanced and black diamond trails to pick from. Well managed, marked and traveled each trail is easy to follow and well represented on the maps. Physical and digital maps are available at most junctions and at each trail head. Well kept bathrooms and adequate parking can be found at the major trailhead junction. PROTIP: Hike well before sunset. The trails are on the East side of the mountain and lose sunlight early! Bring a flashlight if it’s overcast, late or you believe you will be there past dusk. PROTIP: Bring water and snacks but be prepared to haul out your own trash. There are no trash cans on the mountain."
"The trails are well marked. As this was only our 3rd time hiking we chose to take the green trail or easiest one. We saw a doe and her fawn, a couple snakes, a couple frogs, and lots of different fungi."
