Reviews of Jason's Deli
"We got the salad bar. Mine was a $10.91 after tax for just the salad bar. I think it was a little over $13 with a drink. There is a place for a tip when you pay. They also said they have a tip jar on they can put cash in or you can leave one on the table if you want to. The only service you get at your table is after you are gone when you leave and they clean the table. I didn't order a drink. It would have been nice if there had been someone to greet us and tell us how it worked since this was our first time there. We finally ended up asking other customers. You order at the counter and pick up your salad plate at the end. If you order something they have to make, they give you a number and bring it to your table. They give you a large salad plate and a smaller bread plate with silver and napkins on a tray. If you want to go back, you have to bring your plate back up and they have you set it on a tray and give you a smaller salad plate for your next trip. The salad bar is mostly vegetables. They had two types shredded cheese and feta cheese. Other things the had: real bacon bits, hummus, broccoli salad, baby carrots (no shredded carrots), corn salad, giant white bean salad, potato salad (the good kind with dill pickles instead of sweet), pickles, pepperoncini peppers, jalapeno peppers, grapes, olive mixture, pasta salad maybe, many different kinds of salad dressings, cranberry raisin nut mixture, sunflower seeds, light and crispy toast, croutons, mini muffins (cornbread and applesauce muffins), several types of crackers, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar. They had soft serve ice cream as well and some chocolate syrup. We used the plastic ice cream cups to try the different kinds of salad dressings before we saw the sign saying they were for ice cream. I wish they had reusable sauce cups at the salad bar because I hated using so many throw away cups. Dressings I tried were Thousand Island (ok), Blue Cheese (good), Jalapeno Ranch (my favorite), Greek Dressing (I think it was kind of strong. It was good, but if you put it on your salad, you will probably only need a small drizzle of it.), Green Goddess (I wasn't fond of it, but if you usually like Green Goddess dressings, you will probably like it). My mom liked the ranch dressing. The bar was well stocked and there was always someone at the bar refilling and making sure everything was fresh. If you are missing Ruby Tuesday's Garden Bar and don't want to drive to Athens, this is the place to go. Jason's Deli Garden Bar didn't have ham on it or a few other things that Ruby Tuesday's does when we went, but it sure beats driving from Chattanooga to Athens for a salad. They have a large dining room and the restaurant was kept clean including the women's restroom. * Edit - We came back for our second visit late Sunday afternoon. We had the Salad bar again. Food was still great. I tried the honey mustard dressing this time. It was a little more tangy and less sweet than some I have tried. This time there weren't any grapes or any other fruit. Unlike our first visit, this time I rarely saw anyone refilling anything. I asked several employees about putting out more crispy fried onion topping, but the container with crumbs remained empty on the bar for our entire visit. I wanted some muffins when I finished my salad, but it appeared that there were no more to be put out because the muffin baskets were removed and the cracker baskets were moved to the middle. I realize that sometimes places run out of ingredients, but one would think that a place that is open until 10 pm would not run out so early. On a positive note, We asked if we could get a To Go box because my mom who is going through cancer treatments started feeling nauseous and was unable to finish her first plate of salad and they did give us a container to take it in. That was a big plus for this visit."
"Decided to try this place for lunch after a bad experience at another restaurant nearby. The prices are a bit high for a deli, but you do get a lot of food for the money so it compares pretty well with other similar places. I ordered a "Reuben the Great original" which comes with chips and my wife had the "Manager's Special New York Yankee" which is a half sandwich with chips and she got the cup of soup that is a choice to go with it. The sandwiches were HUGE and -very- good! They also have a large choice of soft drinks along with some flavored teas so I got a berry flavored tea which I liked as well. The atmosphere is not spectacular, but perfectly satisfactory and there is plenty of room. It is also kept very clean. If you're looking for a good sandwich, try this place."
"The food was good but a little pricey for what you get. We got a total of 5 meals and 1 drink, including 3 of the manager specials which is just a half sandwich and small soup and 2 specialty sandwich meals and the total was $85. I considered that a little much. It was still overall a great experience with quick service and a nice clean environment."
"I haven't dined at Jason's Deli in a few years, but my former employer served it to us about twice a month, and that can be a bit much sometimes. So, I am not too excited about sandwiches, but I really wanted some tomato basil soup. So my daughter and I decided to dine in and we truly enjoyed it. The restaurant was extremely busy and the staff was moving with urgency but no one seemed stressed or bothered. Everyone was really polite and they navigating through the tables and people delivering food or cleaning tables. We ordered or food and dined on the outdoor patio as the weather was very nice that day. Our food was brought out within 10 minutes and it was delicious. Jason's is a 5/5, food was great, restaurant was clean, employees were friendly and the prices were right at $10/person."
"Ordered doordash, was so good! Potato salad was perfect and smooth with variety of bell peppers and red onion giving it a nice crunch, turkey sand good as well, just ask for extra tomatoes!"
