"Once you hit the gravel road it is easily a good 20-25 minutes all the way up to the top, if you go at a safe/slow rate of speed. Be wary of potholes, and blind curves. Campsites are first come, first serve and reasonably close together - no electric, no water hookups - one small outhouse that is kinda gross. Each site has a table and fire ring, along with a metal hook for hanging a lantern/light. In the spring and summer there are loads of snakes, and you have to watch out for the bright orange corn snakes who will happily swim up the creek/in the water with you. It's a beautiful place, very serene spot - no cell service for most carriers."
"The location showing on Google is not correct. The location is about 1 mile south of the 630 intersection on W Cowpen Rd. If this is full, Lake Conasauga CG is a few miles north on the same road. This location on Google is also incorrect. Very nice CG with picnic tables, pit toilet and trash can. Be careful in the creek as I saw 3 copper heads."
"Awesome site right next to a creek. Only 5 spots though. We stayed here 12/25/22 and was the only people in the site. Came back 4/20/23 and was completely full. No power or bathroom."
"Beautiful camping the weekend gets a little loud. A bear broke in to the trashcan but did not bother us. It was an over all nice 10 day camping trip. There are 5 site, camping is free, you can stay 14 consecutive nights. The bathroom can be a little dirty at times because people aren't always clean. There is a pad for the tent fire pits and table for each site."
"I typically head straight to Lake Conasauga first come first serve (Which I love by the way). But in the off season when Conasauga is closed during the winter months, Hickey Gap is not a bad choice. However it is just off the main road, and there are only about 5 sites so keep that in mind. There is a vault which I did not have to use, but a vault is a vault.."
