The Railroad Cafe

"First visit this week. Nice atmosphere was not overly impressed with the burger. Order the cheddar club MLT. It was $8.89 waited about 20 minutes for food and the burger was less than lukewarm . Almost no seasoning to the taste. Ate about half and gave up. Probably could have been good if it had a bit more seasoning and was actually hot and fresh when it got to the table. Keep in mind this was Friday there was no one in the restaurant getting food when we arrived . We were the only ones in line. All the other patrons were seated and eating. Not sure why our food was not hot. May try one more time and just order something else. Really wanted to like the burger after hearing such good reviews but very disappointed. It was underwhelming. I did have a small chili it was tasty. And the pickle was tasty. We also ordered peach tea from the menu. I guess our mistake we assumed it was fresh tea but we were surprised to be handed a bottle of Lipton peach tea. Would have nice if the cashier told us before we ordered it."

"For a first time visitor: There is a line and you order/pay at the front counter then go sit in the seating area. They will call your name and bring your food to you. Drinks are mostly self service and it's a courtesy to clean up after yourself. This Cafe benefits a local charity. A great stop for a quick bite to eat for breakfast fixings. They gave the best grits around! Everything tasted really good. I really enjoyed my pancakes as well. You get the feeling of an old train depot being here. The seating is nice and adds to that feeling. This is a popular place to eat with locals and beyond. The tracks run next to this place and a train may occasionally pass."

"From the minute we walked in the door, this was a great experience. The food was explained perfectly by a woman who obviously loved her job. The food was spectacular. I ordered the Cajun shrimp and grits. They allowed me to tone down the heat, so it was perfect for me."

"Not really what I expected when I read up on the place. I was expecting a nice sit down breakfast close to home style, but it's more like a fast food type breakfast with ordering at the counter and paper and plastic ware. Food was decent. It's counter service so... And the atmosphere was just so so. You probably shouldn't judge a place based on anticipated expectations as that can sometimes lead to disappointment. That being said, if it were to go here with no previous expectations then I would have to give them a solid 4 star rating as the biscuits are really good."
