"TLDR; please don't go here if you value your health and privacy. Really long version: this place was awful! The office was dirty looking even though it was "clean" and door knobs were falling off the doors. Then the intake person was hateful as can be towards me. She wasn't clear and mumbled a bunch, so I kept asking questions to make sure I understood her. She then got aggravated at me for not understanding her and answering her the first time she asked. Then Dr. Kalou came in and it was chaos. There was something going on with another patient and he left me in the exam room with the door open and I could hear everything about that patient, which is a HIPA violation. I heard her name, birthdate, and what they were calling this other place about. I was shocked there was no concern over being so loud about patient information like that. Then to kick it off, since I was a new patient I was discussing certain issues with me that they need on file. I mentioned I got formally diagnosed as autistic in 2019 but since that diagnosis I've realized I was also ADHD but didn't have the money to get evaluated by a psychiatrist. It would cost me 400$ out of pocket. I mentioned that I had already seen a psychiatrist that couldn't diagnose me, but was pretty certain I had ADHD (along with a few other mental health care providers that I've dealt with that just couldn't formally diagnose but were certain I have ADHD as well) and was even willing to try Strattera with me. Since I wasn't asking to be on simulants but was curious what other routes we could take to help the ADHD. But I decided against Strattera due to my high blood pressure issues. Dr. Kalou mentioned that he could diagnose me. All I needed to do was fill out this paper he gave me. When he handed it to me I thought it was a joke. It was only like 10 (+/-) questions that were very black and white, outdated ways of looking at ADHD. (e.g. ableist) Like possibly the questions they'd have asked in like 1980 about ADHD, that any moderately educated provider now knows is not accurate. He wanted me to answer these questions with the door open and people taking very loudly in the office and I'm supposed to concentrate like that! Even if I don't have ADHD I'm not sure how anyone could have focused, let alone someone with actual ADHD! And he wanted me to answer them quickly. So I do so, nervously. I explain these questions are really ableist and not current for 2023. He scored what I put down and said how I didn't have ADHD but I probably have ADD. I was again shocked and told him I swore that ADD was no longer a diagnosis and they took it out of the DSM. It definitely wasn't in the most current, DSM 5. He argued with me that it indeed was in the DSM and was a valid diagnosis. But it didn't matter because he didn't need to do anything about it since if I have anything it's "only" ADD he said. I was in no way seeking meds for the ADHD. I just wanted the validation and told him that from the beginning. So I'm not even sure why he wasted both our time. Other than prove to me how incompetent he would be as a provider... Point being. If this "doctor" is that outdated about ADHD and doesn't know that they now classify ADHD as inattentive, hyperactive, and combine and took away ADD years ago, yet swears he is correct, imagine what other stuff he's going to get wrong about a your health! The fact that he claims to be able to formally diagnose someone with ADHD when his evaluation is like from the 1980s baffles me. There has to be some medical malpractice going on there or something. Also consider the HIPA violations that he and his staff openly does in the office. What private information about your health, and your personal business do you want some random person in a waiting room to hear about you? People can record anything now. Imagine what someone with ill intent, that's also a patient there, secretly recording could do with your information!!!"
"The staff was amazing! So nice and friendly! I did have a little wait but my appointment was at 11:30 so a person has got to eat at some point! I was listened to and my issues were addressed and tests were given to help solve my issues! Definitely recommend!"
"The girls in the office are wonderful. But Dr. Kalou isn’t in the office most of the time for his appointments. I’ve been seeing him for about 5-6 months and 4 times I’ve gone to the appointment and he hasn’t been there. I’ve waited 2 hrs before waiting for him to come in for my appointment and he didn’t show up. I had to talk to someone on the phone from his other office about getting refills on medication. He has never referred me to a neurologist to get MRIs because I have MS and I haven’t had my medication for almost 2 yrs. He’s not very professional at all, only spends about 5 minutes in the room. He’s completely taken me off my anxiety medication and has cut another medication I’ve been on for 8 yrs by more than half for no reason. I honestly do not recommend going to him"
"Fast and Efficient! The staff was friendly and our visits were quick. My daughter and I have both been to Dr. Kalou for COVID testing. He was very professional and very fast. If you need to see a doctor, Dr. Kalou is the perfect choice."
