"BEWARE!! We got our “Australian Shepherd” pup from Silver Bridge Kennels in Bidwell, Ohio at the end of March. He was advertised as not being *registered* but still being a purebred Australian Shepherd. However, genetic testing from the vet shows that he is only about 1/3 Aussie. As someone who diligently researched breed traits and qualities that I intentionally paid for in order to match my lifestyle, it is really disappointing that they claimed their dogs were something that they are not in order to sell for a much higher price tag. He is smaller and has WAY less energy than I was anticipating (he was supposed to be my backpacking partner, but he can barely make it around our building before he’s tired!). The owner of Silver Bridge Kennels claims that since he *looks* like the breed it is good enough, but advertising the dogs as Australian Shepherds and charging >$2,000 just because they “look” like the breed while they are 3 months old is misleading and fraudulent. We were refused a refund. She also stated that she is planning on breeding our dog’s sister, continuing to mislead future customers. We could never return him as the owner of the kennel suggested when I brought up the issue - even though he is not what we were expecting, we still love him.
