Reviews
"This facility is only serving 5 patient's right now and has been since September when it reopen. Let me first explain why I am leaving such a poor review. My daughter is 13 almost 14. She is a very good kid, she is not violent towards others and does not have what any professionals in the Northern Panhandle area call "behavioral problems" we live in Weirton, WV although we are originally from Pennsylvania. Since moving here 3 years ago my daughter has struggled with school, social issues, past personal issues which all combined have greatly affected her mental health. Finding a therapist was hell. No ability to find a doctor for medication even after she was released from western psych last year on medication has been hell. So she went off. And has been trying to cope and accept whatever help I can find. So I was referred by her so/so therapist to Orchard Park- this ding bat thought admissions happen at the location. Now back to our experience At first I drove to the facility on Saturday. As I sat outside I thought to myself this therapist must be mistaken I bet I need to go to the hospital for admission process. So I did. WVU memorial hospital intake and ER staff did not even know what Orchard Park was or that it existed!! So I left immediately and drove back to Orchard Park. Do you know why I was able to get through the doors? Because the security guard was locked out of his office where it's a key entrance only (this was terrible design he was an amazing person so do not fire him) maybe the universe sent us back so we could help him because he had to use my cell phone just to get ahold of someone. The woman who came all the way from home was very rude to us and acted like I should know this information. I was referred to the hospital by a therapist and a professional from my insurance! This wonderful security guard then explained to me that they only accepted 5 patient's at a time although they had a 30 bed facility and there was no staff to run the facility, he explained they only were accepting patients 5-12. To be honest I got a very bad vibe from the facility except this security guard who probably should be on the floors as staff with his compassion as we sat waiting for gis boss who told him not to let us leave? After leaving we did research as we drove back up route 2, my daughter feeling like help was impossible and shocked at what all we just went through and me determined to get my child help in Pennsylvania but also determined that the public know about this Therefore I hope that hospital administrator who I now know Cory Carr sees this. Mr.Carr I read a interview you gave back in September when the hospital reopened after failing once apparently. You said you still were not staffed and therefore were starting slow and only accepting patients 5-12 because other hospitals rarely did. First of all Mr.Carr what other hospitals- because I don't know any within access to the area of WV state. However there Western Psychiatric who accepts 4-18 and Southwood Psychiatric Hospital for adolescents only that also accepts ages 4-18. Even if the insurance is WV Medicaid an override can be done via a quick call from their staff or parents to have them treated. Meanwhile there is nothing out here for any age and you have a 30 bed facility being wasted! Also by the way you have no business putting those ages together the facility should break down from 4-11, 12-17.. 18 year olds have no business in a adolescents facility I am sorry they just don't. Beyond that Mr.Carr get this hospital staffed and running! Then get your local hospitals, schools and mental health professional community well informed about the hospital! DO YOUR JOB AND DO IT BETTER AND FASTER!"
