Reviews of Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Lanier Islands
"My family of 4 stayed in the new glamping yurts for the weekend and had a great time. 10 out of 10, highly recommend! We rented a golf cart, played in the snow at License to Chill, ate & played games at Gamechanger. The staff was extremely helpful and yurts had everything you could need for a weekend of "roughing it"!"
"We had great family time. They offer golf cart to get around, clean premises, nice lake view, 30 and 50amp electric supply. Would definitely recommend this campground and would love to come back again."
"Beautiful area with lots to do. The area we stayed in had concrete pads, full hook ups, plenty of room, and a view of the lake. Not all areas had the same setup. There is lots to do while there. There are two restaurants on site, a water park, an arcade, and they were making snow for a sled run for the winter months. The staff members we dealt with were friendly and knowledgeable. I really loved the twice a day garbage pickup at the front of our coach. Overall a great week. P.S. they have a drinks cart that delivers drinks right to your hand."
"Camp Margaritaville RV Resort, Lanier Island Buford, GA The overall resort is like a small city. There is a hotel with various restaurants, event/wedding venues, a beach restaurant, but you can’t go in the water, and a waterpark. There are three separate camping areas on Blue Ridge Island. Each campground had either “glamping tents” or “cottages”, i.e. tiny homes/park models/small mobile homes and campsites. Two of the campgrounds have concrete pads. We camped at the campground off of Sea Plane Loop. All sites are gravel with full hook ups including cable, however, cable was not necessary as they have fabulous WiFi. My daughter streamed Netflix the entire time we were there. For me the campsites were disappointing. They are very large and there’s a good distance between campsite, whereas, the campgrounds with concrete pads were pretty close. Our campsite, #140, was pretty unlevel. If we were to pull up next to the utilities, we would have been on a 30-degree slope. We parked the motorhome on the flattest area of the site and still needed to raise the front end. Fortunately, we have 20 ft of hose and plenty of electrical line to reach the utilities. And to dump, my husband had to “walk” the hose so that it would go downhill. We noticed that other campsites were also very unlevel. Our picnic table and firepit were reasonably close to our motorhome. However, some sites one would have to walk 20 – 30 steps downhill to get to their picnic table and firepits, which were and approximately 50 feet away. Also, a lot of the firepits weren’t on level ground to put chairs around. Yes, there is laundry. However, there is only one for the approximate 170 campsites and the laundry was in a completely different loop and unless you were camping on that loop it was far to far away to walk. If you camp at Margaritaville you must have some sort of transportation, i.e., scooter, e-bikes, golf cart (which they rent), or car/truck. To get to the laundry it is probably 2 miles away. To get to the tram stop it is probably 2 miles away. If we didn’t camp with another couple, we would have been stuck at the campsite as we did not tow our car. One of my pet peeves is bathhouses that lack hooks and places to set your stuff. The bathhouse on Sea Plane Loop is the worse as there were no hooks and one bench outside of the shower area. Other than that, the bathhouse was clean with 2 toilets and 3 sinks. And finally, the place is expensive. We averaged $100 a night. Their rates fluctuate with on a daily basis, weekends higher than week days. I’ve stayed in better KOA’s for less money and more amenities to do and close by. Now, if you’re into have Margaritas delivered to your campsite, this is the place. On the weekends the drink golf cart drives around to the campsites offering Margaritas, Rum Runners, Pina Coladas to name a few. Overall, the place is very interesting, I’ve not camped at a place similar to it. We usually stick to KOA’s and state campgrounds. As always, different strokes for different folks, but I probably would not stay again. If you want to go to Lake Lanier, Bolling Mill State Park is a far better campground, but no Margaritas."
"I wanted to love our visit to the Margaritaville RV Resort but I just didn't. The campsites are crammed together to fit as many people as possible. We paid around $120/night for a lake view site. When we arrived the previous campers had left a broken canopy frame in our spot, along with garbage in the fire pit. We had a shared outdoor space with the neighbor beside us, which isn't ideal IMO for a campsite that costs as much as this did. At check in we were told there was a beverage truck that comes around from 4-9 daily with adult drinks. We never saw it in the three days we were there. We attempted to call them (as instructed on the welcome guide) to have them come by our site but nobody answered either time I called. The first night we were there our neighbors were partying still at 2am, well beyond the 11pm quiet hours. Security didn't come around to enforce quiet hours, despite the front office noting they had 24/7 security in the campground. There is a ton of potential for this area. The lake is absolutely beautiful. The kids enjoyed the water park as well, and the land shark restaurant had delicious food. I'd definitely visit this lake again, but I'd save my money by camping elsewhere for a fraction of the cost."
