"We love coming to the Ice House! Great public skate sessions, my kids have a blast and the games are fun too. Concession selections are great, staff can't be beat and the location and ample parking are a major plus. Don't forget they also do kids parties - ask for Raymond!!"
"This place has become a complete joke. It's managed by a greedy, stingy guy who has tasked his student son with running the day-to-day operations. The problem is the young son clearly doesn't know the first thing about running any kind of business, much less an operation with the complexity of this enterprise. I believe this to be the newest ice rink in Atlanta, but it has become the most disgusting. Places like the Cooler are clearly older, but they're much more well maintained. At the Ice House, the front bathrooms are on par with a truck stop or Six Flags...they perpetually reek of stale urine, are frequently clogged and out of toilet paper. The bathrooms in the back by the training rink have been out of order for approximately 4 straight months. It does not cost that much to have a janitorial service come through and tidy up your bathrooms periodically if you don't have in-house people to do it. Having 1 or 2 vending machines would be a massive upgrade over the joke of a concession stand they have, which sells stale food at inflated prices and has completely unpredictable hours. They have recently had a series of preventable facility issues that have completely thrown the current hockey season into disarray (Zamboni wheel falling off, the ice surface completely melting for days on end), but when they so clearly cut corners on so many things and have incompetent management, nothing is surprising. One can only hope that the reason they are cutting so many corners is that the facility is for sale, and a new group of competent ownership/management will come in to run this place the way it deserves. What has happened at this place would make for a fascinating case study for business students to learn from so as to learn how to prevent running a business into the ground. It has so much potential, but right now I would put the management of this place on par with a Big Lots or maybe a Kmart back in the day. These guys clearly have an incredibly high tolerance for embarrassment and lack any kind of pride in their business. With no end in sight to the incompetence, I believe there will be a mass exodus from their various programs, which is probably the best thing that could happen long term so that better leadership can be brought in."
"The facility was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We went during the public skate hours, which wasn't terribly busy but probably not for beginner skaters. The space was used by hockey players and figure skaters to practice, and although they stuck to their own areas in the rink, it can make it harder for those trying to learn. If you are an intermediate level skater, I would recommend checking it out!"
"Always overselling public skate tickets and has low quality rental skates - either ripped or frayed. also, many of the skate helpers are given to hockey teenagers who already know how to skate, which causes havoc on the rink. even worse, the public skating session is ripped off because smack in the middle of the rink is group hockey practice. absolutely unacceptable."
"The kids had a great time. It’s especially great because I didn’t want to even think about having to drive downtown. Plus the area has everything you need anyways. The rink happens to be tucked away behind it all! Loved it!"
