Reviews of Blue Ridge Scenic Railway
"We took the Scenic Fall train ride on October 28th of last year for a glimpse of the changing leaves. The train offers two sides to sit on, mountain side or river side. Something I liked about this train ride was regardless of what side you started on, the ride back, you would get the other side. We started off on the mountain side. I don’t know if I’ve seen too many Harry Potter movies but when they said mountain side, I was under the impression that we would catch a glimpse of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Wrong. The mountain side is LITERALLY up front and personal with the side of the mountain. It is unremarkable, it is boring, and it offers no real view at all. You’re just staring at dirt the whole time. The riverside was very pretty. You could see the changing leaves over the river along with beautiful homes alongside it. The train itself is nice enough, with a small range of snacks and drinks to choose from. Our tour guide was an older man who really enjoyed his job, but he wasn’t exactly friendly with the guests. All in all, it was an experience to say the least. Was the train ride amazing and worth the ticket prices? Not really. But the town itself is cool, we chose the longer stop time, and we felt we had just enough time to see everything we wanted before embarking on the train once more."
"I went on NYE '23 and it was a lovely experience... It would be nice if the ticket office had more attendants handing out the prepaid passes especially when there are large crowds. But the ride was punctual, the staff are generous and professional. I would recommend."
"This is a nice train ride taking off from Blue Ridge, Georgia it’s a mellow chill activity to do with family. The train offers a cart which sells beverages and things to munch on. I went on the 1 hour ride during the holidays and to our surprise we had a cameo from the Grinch, Cindy Lou, Mr and Mrs Clause! My daughter loved it! Recommended for sure"
"A family trip on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway in Blue Ridge, Ga. was a lot of fun. Blue Ridge, Ga. is a two hour and twenty seven minutes drive, not including stops. The directions took us on “back roads” with a lot of beautiful scenery. It’s suggested that you arrive at least one hour prior to departure. You can board the train fifteen minutes before departure. Our tickets were for the closed coach. The train itself is old and in need of a facelift, the seats and cup holders weren’t clean, but we did the one hour holiday ride, so it wasn’t too bad. There is a concession car with snacks, drinks and hot chocolate. There are bathrooms on the train, and it is handicap accessible, you will need to let them know in advance if someone in your party will need assistance. While riding we listened to holiday music, had a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus who gave out a Blue Ridge Railway jingle bell and a candy cane to the children. Cindy Lou Who and the Grinch came by for a visit too. On the way back we listened to The Night Before Christmas. My two year old great great nephew loved seeing the grinch more than he did seeing Santa Claus. We had an enjoyable time, the train ride is at least worth doing once, and it’s always nice to spend time with family. The 4 stars are for the friendly people working on the train. Ticket prices ADULTS: 13-65+ $52.99 CHILDREN: 2-12 $40.99, Price plus tax $52.99 + 7%= $56.70 Adults $40.99 + 7%= $43.86 children."
