"Gorgeous views of the Coal River! Great beach area to sunbathe and enjoy. Kayak entrances. Great fishing pond with wheelchair accessible ramp. Soccer fields. Playground area for the kiddos."
"Friendly and knowledgeable group doing good work. They do a great job organizing events like the Tour de Coal and communicate on social media very effectively."
"Coal River Group is top-notch, offering kayak rentals and more! The team is knowledgeable, professional and genuinely dedicated to providing an excellent experience for their clients. They also play an essential role in preserving the local watershed, which I greatly appreciate. The kayaks are well-maintained and perfect for exploring the Coal River. Although the company is closed on weekends, the staff is always willing to help and provide information. I highly recommend Coal River Group to anyone looking for a fun and responsible outdoor adventure!"
"Very disappointing. Nice folks and great mission, but not reliably open for kayak rentals. I emailed with the date I had in mind, received a confirmation that the kayaks would be available. We arrived at their posted opening time and, after calling their main number without luck, I found a business card for one of the main people - I called and he said they werenβt open that day and that I should try again. My kids were very excited for the trip, so instead of patronizing a local business, we bought kayaks from Walmart."
"This is an incredibly dedicated, totally organized group of people. I've participated in the Tour de Coal each year, and every year it runs smoother. This ain't their first rodeo, and it shows. They keep excellent maps, water level gauges, and weather information. These folks are passionate about their river. They are also friendly and super helpful. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!"
