"Nice place in Charleston. The chairs are uncomfortable but the food is good. It was restaurant week so I got the restaurant week menu. A good value for $45 per person."
"The atmosphere at this establishment was comfortable, a mix of decor….not overly fancy. No complaints about the service, all the servers seemed friendly and attentive. Not a long wait on our food ( our reservation was for right at the time they open) The food was decent, cajun pasta with shrimp and salad was equal to what you might get at Olive garden. The bacon wrapped jalepeno shrimp was good . The New York strip was expensive and a complete disappointment. Fatty cut and chewy with no distinct flavor either. Ate very little of it but did not send it back as we had someplace else to be after dinner and didn’t want to make an issue and wait. Who knows, my steak may have been a one off, but I feel the pricing is a bit out of sync with the quality of the food we had."
"Good restaurant with good service. Got the bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer. They were mediocre. About half weren’t fully deveined. Almost all had a goo in them, believe it was dough that didn’t cook. Got the lobster bisque and the special soup of the day, roasted red pepper. Lobster bisque was extremely flavorful. The roasted red pepper was great, flavor continued to build spoonful after spoonful. Both bisques were more enjoyable when switching back and forth. Got the bourbon swordfish and the feature entree, grouper. When it comes to fish, Bricks and Barrels cooks it exceptionally well. Highly recommend fish dishes at this restaurant with one exception. First, the bourbon swordfish was incredible. The sauce was amazing, great dish. Second, the grouper feature entree had a sauce that just overrode everything. Unfortunately, I can’t recall what the sauce was. The sauce was cooked well and may have even been ok with the fish in a greatly smaller portion. As it was the sauce overtook everything, the fish and rice was just this one overwhelming flavor. Dish also came with broccolini, it really needed to be cooked a lot more. It was essentially raw. Service was almost a five, but there were times we waited a decent time. Strongly believe the great waiter wasn’t at fault for the delays, rather it appeared to be how customers were seated. Some waiters would be zipping around busy while others were chatting as they waited on the next time a customer they were helping needed something. Finally, among the worst parking in the area. Few spots available and we weren’t there at a peak dining time, unsure how customers park when the business is really busy."
"Started with a couple of well-made martini's. Then, seafood fettuccine, which had a thick creamy sauce, almost pasty. The shrimp were overcooked and hard. The rest was good and tasty. The broiled salmon was well made, and it was sitting on some delicious mashed potatoes and finished off with flavorless asparagus. Our waitress was great and was attentive just enough. Her name was something like "Amorous".....very friendly. I hear that the lamb is very good here, and so are the burgers. We're going to give it a try for burgers. Parking was right outside, and we had to wait for someone to pull out. We got seated immediately."
"Outstanding food and service. The bacon wrapped shrimp was probably the best appetizer I've ever had, and the salmon for my entree was perfectly cooked. Great staff and lovely interior. Would love to go back at some point."
